Hello,

I am a Junior in High School. I am a cadet in my high school's Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program. I am beginning the college application process, and am starting to narrow down the school's I want to apply to. I am very interested in continuing ROTC in college, however, I am medically disqualified from joining the Military. I am looking at the following schools as possible options: Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Norwich, The Citadel, and VMI. I am interested in hearing about these colleges from current and/or former students/cadets.

Edit: Silly me, I forgot to mention my potential Majors. I am planning on majoring in either Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

Thank you for your time.

Georgia Tech, UTexas-Austin, Purdue, Embry-Riddle, Penn State

Texas A&M sounds like a great fit for you.

EDIT: That’s assuming that your medical condition does not affect membership in the Corps there - check with them to see.

Norwich has very strong ties to the military.

Yes, I will need to check to see if it will be an issue. With that being said, I will be able to participate in all activities without restraint, if I am indeed allowed in. Thanks for the opinion about TAMU, but I am wondering how the lifestyle there(and at VT) compares to the other Military schools[VMI, The Citadel, Norwich*].

I’m not sure if Norwich more closely resembles the very tight structured and rigorous programs at The Citadel and VMI or the regular ROTC programs at Universities.
