Choosing an Undeclared Major

If you have classes and ec’s that support a less popular major for a college, but you want to attend that college for a different major, would it help to put your major as the less popular one? For example, I have taken spanish AP, part of spanish national honor society, and president of spanish club and am applying to georgetown, where Spanish is less popular. Would this help my acceptance chances, and would I be allowed to switch my major after acceptance?

In most cases no but there is no one size fits all answer. Some universities admit by major and it’s difficult to switch. so in that case you’ll be accepted but have to hope you’ll do great to be able to swap. Others only admit by college (engineering, etc) and it’s once again tough to switch. Others are open admission, no difference in major.

And there’s this. https://college.georgetown.edu/guide-to-prereg/faq/declaring-and-changing-majors

Thanks, I was just wondering because my cousin got into Georgetown saying he wanted to be either a nursing or Spanish major (i forget which) and now he is in law school so I was wondering @“Erin’s Dad”
