Majors in College

Hello so I’m recently a Senior in high school and college Application are just around the corner. I want to attend Medical School after college but first I have a ton of questions on how majors work in college. These are some of my questions:

  1. Is applying undeclare give me a bigger chance to get admitted?
  2. Will majoring in Spanish help me stand out to medical schools or will it not be competitive enough?
  3. If i apply with a Spanish Major will I still be able to change my major to Neuroscience and Minor in Classics once I’ve been admitted even though I did not take the required SAT Subject Tests (Math Level 2 and Biology) in high school?
Please help, knowing these things will help me a lot during my college applications process.
Thank you for your time
  1. Applying Undeclared at an impacted campus or highly competitive campus will not give you a higher chance for being admitted. Depending upon which major you want to pursue, it could make it very difficult to switch majors later.

  2. Majoring in Spanish will not make you stand out, since Undergrad major is not considered in Medical school admissions. What is important to Medical schools are your grades in the Medical school course requirements. Spanish however will be handy as an MD.

  3. The difficulty of switching majors is dependent upon each school. Some schools make it easy to switch and some do not, so it will depend upon which schools you are targeting. Also SAT subject tests will not be considered. Colleges usually have a set plan of pre-req courses and possible GPA requirements for those courses you need to meet before you can change majors. Again this all dependent upon each college’s change of major policy.

what are your current stats?
