I am not sure whether I should take APUSH juinior year or senior year. In senior year I have to take AP Gov/Econ so I would be doubling up social studies. Next year (Junior year) I am taking AP Calc BC, AP Chem, Physics 1, AP Lang, Orchestra, Academic Decathlon and a study hall. Senior year I will take Multivariable Calc, AP Lit, Orchestra, AP Gov/Econ, AP Bio, AP Physics 2 and I can take another class or a study hall.
Not sure why this is under Pre-med. If you are trying to get AP credit for premed classes, forget it. You can’t use AP credits to fulfill premed courses.
Looking at your schedule, I would take APUSH junior year because there is quite a bit of work involved.
Thanks, and this is under High School Student Topics for me not premed.
This is not true. Policy varies but AP credits are accepted at most and almost always can be used for advanced placement.
@plumazul while this is true, most pre-med advisors don’t recommend using things like AP Bio or Chem because you’ll end up in a crucial pre-med class like Orgo with a high school level understanding and completely fail.
@Syrxis The curriculum for courses like AP Biology and AP Chemistry are written by a consortium of universities across the nation to reflect what students at those universities would learn in these classes. If a student in high school does well in the AP class and scores a 5 on the AP exam, they are more than ready to move on. What medical schools want to see is a student who wants to learn and to challenge themselves. University is a great time for advanced study. Why waste your time taking intro classes if it is not necessary?
This quote from a medical school that is not AP friendly says it very well:
I agree with this advice.

@Pleasehelpout are you done with Foreign Language requirement after 2 years of HS?
I agree with @Syrxis. If you intend to be science major/pre-med students, you will likely be advised to re-take all chem/biology/physics, etc in college. You may take AP science credit if you plan to be a non-science major.
Yes. I’m in my third year of Spanish right now. @biomeds
