What I am taking now (Junior):
AP Bio
Orch
Spanish 2 H
AP lang
APUSH
Pre calc

My schedule for Senior year:
AP Calc AB
AP lit
AP GOV/ECON
Spanish 3 H
Orchestra
Anatomy and Physiology H

Problem is, I want to become a pre med in college and perhaps a biochemistry major, so I should take AP chemistry right? But if I do I'll struggle a lot during senior year because the teacher for AP chem is bad (doesn't teach), and the teacher for AP lit is very hard and I know that most of my time will be drained by AP lit. So what should I do? Will I receive college credit for AP lit anyway if I took it? (I want to go to either UCI, UCLA, OR NYU). Also Spanish 3 H is also very tough due to the teacher.

Just don’t take AP Chemistry if you think you might be overwhelmed. My college recommends pre-med students to (re)take General Chemistry, even if their AP credit would allow them to go straight to Organic Chemistry.

That being said, it is beneficial to get some exposure to chemistry in high school. If you have not had a first course in chemistry already, that’s something to consider for senior year.

Yeah, same with my college. When I spoke to my Pre-Med. advisor about AP credit and such, she said Medical Schools don’t like people placing out of the BCPM (Biology Chemistry Physics and Math) courses with AP credit because they want to see an actual grade and time in a classroom for that material.

I’ve gone over the curriculum for AP Chemistry with my old HS science teacher and they don’t cover anything we didn’t in General Chemistry I, but I guess the background would make the course a breeze for anyone.

I have already taken chemistry H during my sophmore year but I’m afraid that I won’t remember any of it by the time I attend college. I guess that whatever chemistry professor I get determines how hard the class is going to be in the future. I guess as long as I work hard in the future in college I’ll be fine. Thanks b@r!um and xMastemah! I won’t be taking AP chem during my senior year and instead try to place out of english through AP credit. But I will purchase a ap chem prep book or something to get the background of it.
