Choosing between HYPS

OKAY, I was recently accepted to Princeton, Yale, Harvard, and Stanford and I have a very small amount of time to choose. I have almost narrowed it down to Princeton and Harvard, but I still have Stanford and Yale.

Please help me choose

Biology Major with interest in English Composition, Economics, and Chinese.

Looking for:

Strength in Majors
Great undergrad experience
Not-too-hard competition
Amazing profs
Cool classmates
Campus/City "fit"
Good social life
Overall convenience and comfort
Hate to admit it...but prestige

Have you visited?

I was able to choose Harvard over Yale and Princeton because it was of what I learned about each at their pre-frosh weekends. Visiting makes a difference!

I'm currently a HS junior but until know, it appeared that all college decisions were supposed to be made by yesterday, May 1st. Do HYPS work differently?

I have visited all since, BUT I STILL CAN'T CHOOSE...Also, a lot of the information that the people there gave me was extremely biased and I didn't know who to talk to. The overall "feel" for Princeton and Harvard were both amazing...

People will slam me for this but if you liked both equally and could see yourself at either then go with the better brand name...

All the things you listed apply to all 4 schools - the only thing that differs slightly is the prestige.

Congrats on your acceptance...
But for me if it HONESTLY came to a tie... yeah, I'd go with prestige and location as the deciding factors.

Harvard is better in the majors that you specified and it's in Boston. How awesome is that :)

Harvard will rock your world its awesome!

Well, it's better than flipping a coin, and at this point it sounds like that's what the OP's down to.

I would probably choose the money, all other things being equal. Which school gives you the most aid?

i had a really hard time choosing between harvard and yale. ultimately, i chose based on financial aid (only a 2000 difference, but still), location (boston kicks new haven's butt a million times over), and the fact that my best friend from high school is going to tufts. hey, you have to choose somehow! good luck. at least, with schools like that, you can't go wrong!

sinbad ,

whats ur stats? did u bribe them or something? its highely unlikely they all accepted u.

from my friend at harvard, she hates the weather, the profs practically ignore u, and the campus is decent (not really social). we're from cali, so thats her opinion from being too used to the sun =)

btw, id like to see ur stats too. not doubting u or nething, but it would help me compare with someone who got accepted

Biology is very good at both schools. The last Valedictorians at Princeton were biology majors. (it's somewhere in the daily princetonian).

Princeton is definetly the more undergrad focused of the two.

Competition will be hard at all these schools. I think it might be more cut-throat at Harvard. Depends on what you want.

Amazing profs IT HYPS we are talking here. Amazing profs everywhere.

From the limited nr of people i know, Princeton has definetly the cooler people.

Campus. Urban vs Suburban.

Social life. Princeton has the more closely knit comunity. Better friendships, more like a family. Harvard offers more social events plus it offers Boston social life.

Convenience and comfort?

Prestige.... almost no difference here.

I can confirm...Princeton's valedictorian this year will be attending Harvard Medical School next year. Pton's valedictorian last year is now at Stanford pursuing her PhD in biology.

When my father had to chose college he had to chose between the two best colleges in Romania. (nothing compared to HP though). He and a friend were in the same predicament. There was no CC available to help them choose. They literally fliped a coin. They nevere once regretted their choice!

Either OP is lying or cheated his way thru. Theres no way all 3 would accept him. I know ppl that got 1600 SAT/4.3 GPA that didn't make it.

People get accepted by all 3 all the time. It's really quite common, as if you're good enough for one, you're pretty much good enough for them all. And SAT scores and GPA aren't everything, by any stretch of the imagination.

There the two most important things. Everything else is not as important. I think for college the most important things are:

SAT

Courses

GPA

Class rank

Essay

Recommendations

EC

is this true for the all the top schools?

I don't see why you guys think they are lying. Plenty of people are accepted to all four colleges.
