I find the statement 80% are not interested in studies hard to believe because those kind would be weeded out by the sophomore year. You have to study hard in any engineering program. I guess I’ll know more when I get there :p

Exactly. Arbitrary statements are arbitrary.

The both universities that are being mentioned here are the part of the Big Ten. And Big Ten is known for partying and for its academics. 80% of the students do not study is an absolutely absurd notion in every aspect. I have been to both UIUC and Purdue and people do study. UIUC has one of THE top engineering programs in the world. Also, myself being from another representative of another Big Ten college, we actually enjoy the party school status. Also, do not choose WUSTL, Hopkins or Northwestern for engineering if you get into UIUC. None of the them are known for their engineering programs.

Also, do not choose WUSTL, Hopkins or Northwestern for engineering if you get into UIUC.

^ You’re comparing apples to oranges. I did so, and it was the best decision of my life.

A person who applied to the latter, only looks for engineering whereas those who apply to the rest look for more than that. True, there might not be majors that are highly specialized… but hey, you do that stuff in high school.

The differentiating factor in them, though, is the student body. That is what will make your student experience. Not your classes.

As for UIUC vs Purdue. I know more than a handful of people who went to UIUC and came back. Just dropped out, missed a year, and started all over again at another college. And I have friends at Purdue who love it. 'Nuff said.

^ i agree with prateek. @ places like uiuc and purdue u’ll find a very diverse student body. campuses don’t feel like insulated bubbles filled with pretentious ones. i know i m making an outrageous statement and it is as ridiculous as someone saying that ppl at places like uiuc don’t care for well rounded education. bull.

UIUC is just below MIT and UCB for subjects like Computer Science.

Whoever made the statement about 80% students not caring about academics can go suck on an egg.

And WHO trusts Princeton Review with anything? They’re a crappy company.

They are a crappy company from Columbia University.

I soo agree man !!

UIUC aint that much bad
