Choosing my career

Hello all. I live in Toronto. I have completed my schooling. I want to become a tradesman. There are several trades under the trade industry. I doubted myself which one would be better for me. I was confused between plumbing and welding. Finally, I chose welding. Welding is really everywhere. It is one of the booming industries in Canada. I read that welding is a dynamic industry with a bright future. I want to be a welding engineer. I don’t have any idea regarding the various courses to become a welder and I have decided to join any of the welding courses. I heard there are different types welding. But I don’t know which among them a beginner must choose. And I have also read that a welder should be certified before entering the welding industry. How does a tradesman get certified for welding? I searched on the web about the different courses related to welding and I came across course [known as welder red seal course](http://www.weldtechtraining.com/) and I thought it’s a cool option.

You’ll need to do an apprenticeship in welding to be certified. But yes, there is a lot of demand for some skilled trades all across Canada, and this is a very wise choice of career for people who have a technical mind and like working with their hands. Several of my relatives are registered trades people (carpentry, electrician) and make a really good and steady living in Canada.

The best place to find out about how to get into the skilled trades is at government jobs office. Visit http://www.earnwhileyoulearn.ca, (this is the website from the Ontario college of trades) or go to an Ontario employment office. There are a lot of incentives in Canada to train for the shipped trades. You might qualify for grants for the classroom portion of the apprenticeship.

The course you found seems fine, but there are many ways to get into an apprenticeship and you might find more options at the jobs office.

Thanks for your suggestion geraniol
