Hey, I'm a junior from NJ and I'm really getting anxious about college. I have about a 3.7 GPA with a huge academic rigor including 3 Aps this year and 4 honors classes. I'm taking Ap calc, ap chem, and ap history at the moment freshman and soph year I took pretty much all honors courses. Next year I will be taking ap stat, ap lit ap bio and ap physics
I havent taken the SAT yet but i'm taking it in March, I wanted to know what subject tests I would have to take for a major in biomedical engineering. I am thinking about majoring in that or just trying to get into a special premed program but i really haven't made the decision. I wanted to know what colleges are good schools besides the ones I obviously cannot get into like the ivies and etc. I was thinking about GWU or Boston University or possibly NYU if i'm up for it.
PS: I will have accumulated 300+ community service hours before I start my senior year, I'm up for guaranteed position as President of my local People to People International Chapter

As far as I know you don’t need any subject tests to get into a major. Some highly sought after schools will require subject tests for admission. If you want to get into Med School you should look at schools where you will do well since most people on these boards state the two prime attributes looked at for med school admission are undergrad GPA and MCATs. It’s also recommended you save $ from your UG degree so you can afford the loans for med school.

I wouldn’t rule out anything yet. Biomedical engineering can show up in surprising places. In general subject tests aren’t required. It’s something that will depend on the school. If you’re considering medical school, aiming for a “less prestigious” college with an honors program might be the way to go. Good chances at significant scholarship money, close interaction with faculty, and less cut-throat competition from other pre-meds.

Thanks guys and yeah i knew the subject tests depended on the school but I was just asking which ones should I most likely take because I really don’t know what exact colleges I’m going to apply to. A few of them I am looking at include Fordham, Villanova, Rutgers, TCNJ, and a possible reach school of Rensselaer because of their biomedical engineering program.
