My D is applying to some schools that require the CSS from both parents and some that only require it of the custodial parent. How do I make that distinction in the CSS application portal? For the schools that only require the custodial parent profile, I do not want to include the non custodial parent’s financial information. (e.g. Univ of Chic, UNC Chap Hill)
University of Chicago does not actually require CSS Profile at all, if you use its own supplemental form: https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/cost-aid/applying-aid
@ucbalumnus Thank you very much. I did not understand that.
Any insight on picking and choosing schools within the CSS application? I’ve searched for that information and I cannot find any guidance. Perhaps we should contact financial aid at the individual schools for some direction?
Yes, if the CSS Profile does not give the option, check with the colleges.
@ucbalumnus Appreciate it!
Schools that use Profile will probably only pull the form(s) that they require. In other words, a Profile school that does not require information from a non-custodial parent will probably just not download the NCP Profile form, if there is one. (Or the College Board will not give access to/transfer that form if the school doesn’t need it).
@BelknapPoint Thank you for the additional information!
