Well, we are now watching April slip away and son is having a hard time with his decision (a position we actually hoped to be in way back when). So if anyone has any thoughts, we will consider the input. It seems to be between Ursinus and Knox. Just visited Wooster and son was not too impressed. Our concerns are that Ursinus might be too Greek, and too many kids may leave on weekends. Son is into intellectual debate and challenge, not partying, and it is hard to get a feel for that in campus visits. He loved his visit to Knox but we are in Md so he may be a bit intimidated by the distance to Knox. He was also accepted at Earlham but thinks the campus may be a bit too liberal for his taste. Geez, I didn't know it would be this hard.

I'm an '06 Knox Alum, and I have to tell you, I adore Knox. I'm getting my PhD at the U of Florida in Biomedical sciences, but I promise that Knox can prepare your son for anything he'd like to do! Maryland is a bit of a drive, but it's not terrible. I did an internship at UMd College Park campus, and I'm from Chicago - there are some very reasonably priced flights in and out of Chicago/DC/Baltimore, so if he gets too homesick, he can hope on the Amtrak train in Galesburg, ride to chicago, fly home for a break.

Here's my other perspective: Try Knox. If that distance really is a problem for him, he can transfer to Ursinus later. If he goes straight to Ursinus, he'll never know what a wonderful school and community Knox is. It is very heavy on the intellectual debates, that I promise you, but there is a moderate amount of partying as well - it's hard to avoid that on any campus, but Knox housing is spread out enough he should always be able to find a nice and quiet place (and security is very responsive to noise complaints!).

I'm not employed by Knox nor was I asked to do this - I just think it's an excellent school and wish everyone could go to a place like this!
