Well, we are now watching April slip away and son is having a hard time with his decision (a position we actually hoped to be in way back when). So if anyone has any thoughts, we will consider the input. It seems to be between Ursinus and Knox. Just visited Wooster and son was not too impressed. Our concerns are that Ursinus might be too Greek, and too many kids may leave on weekends. Son is into intellectual debate and challenge, not partying, and it is hard to get a feel for that in campus visits. We are in Md so he may also be a bit intimidated by the distance to Knox. He was also accepted at Earlham but thinks the campus may be a bit too liberal for his taste. Geez, I didn't know it would be this hard.

Glad to hear our daughter is not the only one waiting until the bitter end to make up her mind.

We missed the Capstone event a couple of weeks ago due to another commitment. She is going up with Dad on Monday to visit one more time. She's 99% sure she is set on UC, but we want her to be sure.
We're in N.Va, so it's not too far. She's a bit opposite of your son...she's more into the social scene and is concerned that everyone may go home on weekends....a bit too far for her. They are going to let her sit in on two classes and she'll have lunch with a few students...hopefully she'll make up her mind.

Tabmba: good luck. I will be curious to hear about her visit. Post an update, particularly if she got any more information about UC being a "suitcase" school. I guess if we are both worried about it, there might be something to the rumor.

My D would also be wary of a suitcase school, especially since she'd be about 3000 miles from home and wouldn't want to be left with a deserted dorm on the weekends! It seems that suitcase schools would also indicate kids of less maturity.

Does anyone know exactly what the college offers as far as transportation to and from Philly and to/from the airport?

My D returned home yesterday with my husband wearing Ursinus gear from head-to-toe. She is 100% sure that she will be matriculating in the fall with the class of 2011.

Despite the nasty weather in the Northeast, she had a great time. The guide she had was wonderful and she ate with several students for lunch.

Yes, some students go home. But the ones she spoke with indicated that most students are involved with extracurricular activies of some nature and tend to stay on campus. This would include, athletes, drama, dance, greek, etc. Additionally, like my D, more and more students are going to be attending from outside of the immediate area next year. As such, more and more kids will be staying due to necessity. Shuttles go into Philly on the weekends, and there is transportation to the local trains as well.

She was also told, that although Freshmen aren't supposed to have cars, that those who live a larger distance from school have been allowed to have them.

What really made up her mind was that everyone seemed to get along and know one another. Despite obvious differences in backgrounds, race, etc, people were all waving to one another and everyone seemed to fit in.

Good luck to all.

We visited Ursinus in April. A public bus stops in front of the school and takes you to the local commuter train station. You take the commuter train into Philadelphia.
