<p>I don’t know what the two have to do with each other. If you have credits at Santa Monica College, and it is a normal accredited college, many of your credits could transfer to any college as long as your grades are good enough and the classes you want to transfer meet the standards of the receiving college. </p>
<p>However, colleges in California may have special articulation agreements with other California colleges; many states have rules like that. In that case, the other California colleges would be more generous with transfer credits.</p>
<p>I don’t know what any of that has to do with high school at all.</p>

<p>Oh that’s what you meant - sorry, I’m not from California. I didn’t realize you’d be doing that instead of a diploma. Ask the colleges you want to transfer to - that’s always the safest bet.</p>

<p>Many schools require high school diplomas and many don’t. I would <strong>imagine</strong> fewer do for a transfer student with a good record, but I just don’t know.</p>

<p>Your original question was confusing. Do you mean if you <em>pass</em> the CHSPE, can you transfer anywhere? You don’t “turn it in”-it’s a test you take and you either pass it or you don’t.</p>
<p>Yes, if you pass the CHSPE, you now have the equivalence of a high school diploma and you can take classes at the community college full time (if there’s room, but that’s a different subject). I am not sure if schools outside California recognize the CHSPE as a diploma, though it functions much like one. (Except that your parents have to “sign you off” of high school; it is not automatic. Just because you pass the exam, it doesn’t mean you are exempt from high school. A parent must write a note saying, in essence, you are done with high school) </p>
<p>As for me, though my son passed the exam at age 12, he didn’t graduate high school unitl 18 and I issued him a diploma from our home school.</p>
<p>As to whether schools will ask for high school transcripts or not, I think it probably depends on the school That would be a question to ask admissions offices at particular schools. I would venture a guess that if you have two years of full time community college, schools will probably only be looking at that and not at your high school transcripts…but best to ask the schools themselves.</p>

<p>From your other thread, it looks like you’re just trying to get out of the drudgery of school and into a glamorous job. If I misunderstand, I apologize. But if I understand correctly, I think you should stay in high school until you graduate, apply for colleges your senior year, and either go to college the year after that, or, preferably, defer college a year and get a job until you have more of a handle on life. There’s no reason to spend the time and money of college if you aren’t serious. This isn’t an attack; lots of teens aren’t ready for adulthood yet. My own son took a year off between high school and college.</p>

<p>Do you mean you passed the proficiency exam? What do you mean, “I turned in my CHSPE”? To whom? Did your parents say you’re done with high school? Did they make it official? </p>
<p>Again, I reiterate, when you take the exam and pass it, it does nothing. You don’t “turn it in” to anyone. You can use it to bring to colleges to prove that you have the equivalence of a diploma, but my son never “turned it in”.</p>
