<p>I've wondered this one for a long time. Lets say you're doing a report on WWII. Say you're working on the atomic bomb and Japan and Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Do you have to cite your reference to the A-bomb being dropped? How long before something can be said to be just known rather than have to be cited? On research papers, do people usually have to cite EVERY source including the most obvious stuff like September 11th happened? </p>
