<p>Are you expected to cite sources for statements in a college essay? </p>

<p>Can I make a claim about a historical figure if it is based upon logic, even if I don't have a source for it? For example, could I say that a historical figure's cultural background helped him become successful, and saying why I think this is true, even though I don't have a source that says this?</p>

<p>I don't think an essay for a college app should have a bibliography. It's not a research paper.</p>
