Did anyone hear anything about the CIVICUS program online? Is anyone else interested in it?

I'm not sure if I'm interested in it or not (considering I didn't even know of it's existence before this morning) but I was admitted to UMaryland earlier today and in addition they offered me admission to the Civicus program.

how did u hear that? Did u do a lot of community service in high school?

The funny thing is that actually, no, I didn't do a lot of community service in high school. The only community service I did was all the way back in the ninth grade for my high school's Key Club.

However, I did take a Sociology course at NYU during the previous summer. And I believe I mentioned in my short answers for Maryland that I am very interested in studying social sciences such as sociology and political science -which is true.

That musta been it - in addition to the programs if you're interested in the humanities and in getting involved on campus - one of the big advantages is the awesome dorm situation - Somerset Hall is great! One of my friends was in the program - and her "quality of life" as they call it - was way above the standard for CP. Somerset is a classic building - with plaster walls - and best of all - Air Conditioning! Not a common amenity for most freshmen. Don't know where you're from - but if you know Maryland fall and spring weather - AC ranks high on my list! Plus she always crowed about the classes and the kids and the social net. Check it out on the res life page - and she said she thinks we get invited to an "official visit" in Somerset - if we're invited to the program.

My acceptance email sent me to a website at the bottom of which says "In addition, you have been invited to Civicus
Please click here for more information about this program" but I don't know anything about it - I'm from Nevada. Does anyone from Maryland know anything about it and is it as good as being accepted into the Honors or Gemstone programs? Cause it didn't say anything about me getting into those. (Oh and yeah, I'm really involved in the community and service and my whole application was about how I wanted to go into civil service and how I wanted to do the 5 year masters in public policy program)
