Civil Engineering Masters acceptance with low g.p.a but great experience with P.E.?

I am a Civil Engineering Technology major with over six years experience in the Transportation Engineering industry along with my Professional Engineer/PE license. When I was in college I was very immature and did not take school too seriously. My thought process was once I get my foot in the door anywhere I will be able to learn and move up the ladder rather quickly. I proved myself right but a Masters in Civil Engineering will allow me move to different States to practice Engineering ( Some states will not allow Engineering Technology majors licensure).

My two hurdles are My g.p.a was well below 2.5 along with having a B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology. It will not be a problem for me to get recommendations. My question is do you think my experience along with obtaining my P.E. license is enough to get accepted into grad school?

You can only try. Just make sure that you apply to a range of schools form selective to less so. You might find that you can improve your chances by finding a local university and taking a class or two as a non-degree student to demonstrate that you are up to the task of doing well in upper division engineering classes or even graduate classes. Some universities will take into account your work expereince and maturity but might offer you probationary admission andlet you demonstrate your academic ability with a few courses before offering you full admission.

Your best bet is to make a list and call the schools to find out what your options might be.
