Civil Engineering schools in the West

My son, now a junior in high school, is intrested in Civil Engineering/constructions engineering. The main schools he is looking at in no particular order are: University of Hawaii Manoa, University of Idaho (Moscow), and BYU. We also have looked at San Diego State, but the cost is much more than the others.

If you have knowledge of any of these programs please let us know which is the better program and why? We are waiting on my son's latest SAT scores from May 3. His last scores were 460/540/540. His GPA is 3.7. Yes, I know there are much more prestigious schools out there, but let's be practical...Have to go were we can afford to send him! :)

Thank you!
Kristina

I don't know much about the programs at your choices, but all are probably comparable. I checked ABET.org website (engineering program accreditation) and all the programs are accredited. I would select a campus that has the best combination of cost and environment he'll be happy.

Since you're in-state at Washington, what about Washington State?...it might be a lot cheaper, and IMO, educational quality would be the same.

Just a informational tid-bit: I read Men's Journal magazine, and it mentioned Moscow, ID as a great college town.
