<p>Power strips =/= extension cords. Use power surge protected power strips and you should be fine. </p>
<p>I did not find a lamp to be necessary at all. All the rooms come with a desk lamp. They were incandescent a couple of years ago and not sure if that’s changed.</p>

<p>No, you can’t control it. FWIW, I was never uncomfortable.</p>
<p>You can’t control it but it stays pretty comfortable, maybe bring a small fan for the summer but i wouldn’t worry. An extra lamp might be a good idea if you have a corner room or something. And they say no extension cords but no one really enforces it except the once a semester fire inspection which they tell you about the day before. I used a power strip on a power strip for the whole first year.</p>
