@cthompson3088 I’m pretty much set on Accounting/Finance related (or if not, Economics) and Computer Science, as a double major. For the match range of schools, I’m looking for a strong Economics department and a decent CS department, but most importantly, it must be possible to double major in both disciplines. I would also favor a school with a philosophy or legal studies minor, that can be added to a double major.

EDIT: Any chance at completing a Masters within four years is an absolute advantage I would definitely go for.

Big 10 schools such as Michigan and Indiana have really good business programs. So does University of Washington if you are looking for another West Coast school. I don’t know about the Computer Science, philosophy, and legal science programs at these schools because I am just looking for business majors.

I don’t know Claremont Mckenna
Duke University–reach
Bucknell University-- high match
Grinnell College–match
University of Rochester–high match
:)

@smiley1234 That’s fine. I appreciate honest answers. By high match did you mean I have a smaller chance of getting in or a higher chance of getting in?

High match is roughly a 25-40% chance of getting in.

CMC and Grinnell are top liberal arts schools with GPAs and test scores to match. Think of them as, oh, as hard to get into as Notre Dame and Rice. They’re really good.

Duke is top-10 and hard to get into – reach or low reach for everyone.

Rochester is good but your scores/GPA will not have to be as high as they would have to be to get into Duke/CMC/Grinnell.

@prezbucky Right, IMO and from most other’s responses, UofR wouldn’t be a high match by your definition. Which is why I asked them to specify their definition.

So the very top schools – even with a 2400/36 and 4.0 GPA – are reaches for everyone. HYP, Stanford, MIT, Chicago, Columbia, Penn. I think 2400/36 and 4.0 makes you a low reach (or lower…) everywhere else.

Sorry, I don’t know any of those schools much, (I don’t want to give you a bad chance–although I suppose every chance is bad) but for Duke, I’d think you have a good shot at it. I like that you have a focus on the business area, and with a solid essay you’ll be a strong applicant. Good luck!

Except Duke, I think you can get in everywhere in your list.
I know some girls who got in Bucknell and Grinnell, and while they had slightly better GPA their ECs were far less than yours, which are spectacular.

I’ll chance you based on your 2210:
CM: Waitlisted
Duke: Rejected
Bucknell: Accepted
Grinnell: Waitlisted
Rochester: Accepted

Your biggest downfall is the extra-curricular section. Kudos on your summer work but the other EC’s are lacking. It’s good that you’re a junior though because it gives you some time to work on that. Good luck!
