UCSD transfer students are admitted for the Fall Quarter only. The application filing period is Nov. 1 to 30 for the following Fall Quarter.

Doesn't this mean you have to wait another entire year before entering UCSD? Most transfers would have already spent 2 years in a jc, and then they will have to wait a third. Someone please clarify.

If I apply this november, I will have 20 units or less.

Most people go to CC for one year and apply in the fall of their second year for UC the following fall. However, UC only allows transfers for students who have completed at least 60 UC transferable units. Being that you’ll only have 20 in the fall you’ll have to hit the ground running . . . taking 20 units/semester (and maintaining a GPA that is good enough to get excepted into a UC) is doable but definitely a challenge!

The fall of my second year I will have more than 60 units. What I don’t understand is how long is the gap between apply and actually going to UC? If I apply Fall 2011, do I attend Fall 2012?

ANd if that’s the case, what do you do. Take more classes for a third year?

@EASD Yup. You’d have to shine it on for one more year and attend in Fall 2012. And i think you would have to take more classes a third year because according to IGETC you have to be continously enrolled until you transfer.

@borntogrow I thought CCC students are only allowed 18 units each semester?

Ok time out. How long have you been at CC? If you are just finishing up your first year and you have only 20 units or less then you need to either:

a) Take some classes this summer
b) Take over 20 units each semester next year
c) Spend a total of 3 years at your CC

It doesn’t matter how many units you have when you apply (unless you want to do TAG, in which case I think you need 30), as long as you have 60 semester units completed by the time you enroll at UCSD. Honestly, if you’ve been at a CC for two semesters, and you will have 20 units or less completed, does it really surprise you that you would have to stay for three years to get up to 60 total units?
