Anybody can help if my daughter wants to apply BM in Peabody for clarinet performance? Just read the web site about their BM program in Peabody and quite interest about it. Anybody knows the clarinet professor there? Not sure if they need live audition after passing the prescreening? Do they provide need based scholarship for their accepted student? Many thanks!

My daughter is at Peabody, but I don’t have answers to most of your questions. I believe they do require in-person auditions, but my daughter did get admitted on two instruments in performance, one with just a CD. We know several students who received very large need-based scholarships, but I don’t know how many they give out every year.

Thank you woodwinds. Just found that they have regional audition in Asia countries but not sure still need audition in campus. Will let her try to audit in our home place first. BTW, which instrument is your daughter playing, does she enjoy her school life? Happy with her school? Are schoolmates are supporting each others?

Peabody isn’t known for being at all generous with their financial aid and it’s very “instrument dependent”.Some years, even having the teacher plead your case will net little or nothing in some years…

The students I know that received need-based aid are all US citizens, so it may be a very different situation for a student coming from Asia. I believe that a large portion of students are international, mostly from Asia. My daughter has only been there a few weeks, but is very happy with her choice and is enjoying it a lot.

Thanks a lot for all your sharing. Happy to hear that your daughter is enjoying her new school life. Hope I will have that day hear my daughter saying she is enjoying her new school. It will be two years later. Next year she has to determine which school to apply. Being a musician is not easy. Being a musician’s parent is not easy too when the parent know nothing about music.
