^^Cool I was going to list music research (just because) and see about finding mathematical patterns in Bach and Mozart, though that has been done somewhat already

But spending an entire summer getting to listen to Bach. Its like a dream come true :)

How long are everyoneās essays?

Could you please tell me what 6 programs you applied?

I applied to HSHSP, MITES, SRAP, and Carnegie Mellon AP/EA. They were all fairly selective, but I guess they could be called backups.

:O backups???
it hasnāt hit me yet how selective clark scholars isā¦

Ya, you should definitely have backups, or at least numerous peer programs. Iām applying to 6 (roughly) peer programs. I would apply to a more back-up program, but worst-case scenario I can just continue research that Iāve started at the state flagship.

Got RSI and a local thing as my ābackupsā, though RSI is probably tougher to get into. If I donāt get into my backup local program, Iām applying to 2 others with later deadlines

Iām applying to seven programs, like SIMR, Jackson, and a few others. I would not really consider these ābackupsā as they are all near impossible to get into.

If I donāt get into any of these programs (which is more likely than I wish it were), I will probably attend Key Club International Convention and then intern at Harvard again.

I am applying to RSI, MITES, SSP, Clark, and a local internship at a hospital. The internship is my backup, and I donāt think any of the other programs, dignified as they are, can be called backups. RSI is my #1 choice, with MITES as #2, and SSP and Clark coming next (not necessarily in that order. I think I might choose Clark over SSP, although Iāll have to look into both of them a bit more to decide.)

Hi squirrelbridge!

I was wondering if you got into SRAP, and/or Carnegie Mellon AP/EA or not?

Thanks!

Hey guys, I know this is a really selective program, but I was wondering whether it gets equal attention from those up north and further west? I understand that itās prestigious, but where are most of the clark scholars normally from? Lubbock doesnāt seem like such an appealing place to those who may have lived near beaches or among national monuments, so I thought it wouldnāt have such a national appeal :/

what regions are you guys from?

Last year, we had pretty equal representation from the north and west; donāt let descriptions of Lubbock fool you, the weather may not be ideal, but itās certainly a great place to spend the summer and it has a surprising amount of history. We had one scholar from Florida, one from the Chicago area, one from the New York area, one from the D.C. area, two from PA, one from WA, and five from CAā¦plus a student from the UK who worked in the same lab as me for a few weeks as sort of a psuedo-Clarkie. It seems that there is typically at least one international Clarkie and at least one student from the Lubbock area; our year didnāt happen to have either.

Alright thanks so much!
On the app where we need to give the psat and sat scores, are we supposed to put our scores from SAT IIs and APs on the āOtherā section (or is that part for things like TOEFL or something)

Question about Clark Application form, part C. The form said limit your statement to ONE page. But we are not allowed to reformat the form, the space inside that box is pretty much as half page. I copy/paste my essay which is about 3/4 of page long into the box C. There are a few lines couldnāt been seen. Any suggestion?

Hello Chestnut-

I got into both of those programs, and they were both very appealing and financially viable, but I decided that researching at Clark would be a better and more enjoyable opportunity. I was not wrong.

@squirrelbridge, did you apply to the university of wyoming SARP?

Thanks to those who responded to my previous post.

Looking at the narrative box, I initially managed to trim my writing from 750 words to 500. Now when I try to print, the formating goes out of control. Then I noticed that application said it needed Internet Explorer or Firefox. So I go to Windows Explorer, and see that the formatting stays normal. But now the boxes are EVEN SMALLER! So I tried to jam my 500 word essay in the box, and it wouldnāt fit.

Now my essay is 387 words, and barely fits. Is this how long the narrative essay box is for everyone? Can someone check theirs? Iāve never written such a short essay for any application. My RSI application was over 2,000 words!

^i havenāt done my essay yet, but try print preview? your essay might still fit on the page when printed out, maybe the box just looks small?

I tried the application essay (the last part) in google chrome, internet explorer, and firefox. Chrome and firefox gave the a decent length box but IE had a box about half the size. Also, when I printed each application from the three different browsers, I got big gaps between the sections in chrome and nearly invisible box outlines in firefox. IE worked fine but once again, ZA TINY BOXESsss D:
I swear its like theyāre trolling us because each of the three browsers has some kind of issue with this app and none of themāll be perfect. Iām tempted to combine the three sets from the different browsers, but then they said that if we reformatted anything weāll be disqualified. So like, am I supposed to leave this completely blank page that I get in the middle of the app when I print through google chrome??

anyone know how to fix this?
