i received an acceptance email a few days ago as well… im a little surprised at how tiny this thread is haha
@tybae Yes! Another person! Are you planning on attending?
Haha, I’m surprised at the size of this thread too!
@Celestialgalaxy yes very likely
There is another program waiting for my confirmation(at April 30th)… But personally, I want to go to Clark Scholars. Do you people think it’s at all likely that I will get admitted to this program this late?
For me, I have 4 Fives in AP Physics C, Cal, and Macroeconomics. 1 Four in Statistics. SAT score 1580. GPA about 3.5~3.6 (unweighted of course).
Oh BTW, I chose Philosophy and Applied Mathematics (Mathematical Modeling, to be specific).
It’s very likely that they already sent out the acceptance letter… I feel bad for not getting accepted…
Does anyone email the director about the results?
welp i got rejected lol
Did you receive an email from the director or are we assumed to have been rejected if we don’t hear anything
^^^ Did anyone receive a rejection email yet?
@GreatProfessor You could try to contact someone who is running Clark Scholars (the best idea would be Dr. San Francisco, I think, since he’s the director), briefly explain your situation, and ask him/her about your current application status (rejected, pending, or accepted). I’ve seen a few people make this kind of suggestion on the other Clark Scholars threads from previous years, but I have no idea if this will actually work and if you will get a response. Just a suggestion
Also, the summer program website states that “decisions will be made by the first part of May”, so they could still be sending out decisions until then. I understand that you have to confirm with another program soon, so I’d still suggest emailing someone at this summer program soon.
(The ideas in the following response have been derived from what I’ve seen on Clark Scholar threads from previous years) The people looking at your Clark Scholars application will consider all parts of your application–not just your test scores or academic proficiency (grades and GPA). Having great scores or grades will most likely give you a boost, but I’ve heard that the essays on the application are also very important. Just know that if you don’t get in, the application process is very selective and rejection doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re not gifted.
Nevertheless, good luck to you and everyone else who have applied to this summer program!
Hope this helped
I didn’t receive a rejection or an acceptance yet…
@lithium123 what about you
feels weird… why can’t they release all the decisions in the same day
I think this means we didn’t get in and they’re just holding off to make sure all of the accepted people can make it.
I know last year, most people got their rejections May 1st or 2nd
@Celestialgalaxy Wow, thanks a lot. That plan sounds great. Thanks for your help. I will call tomorrow though I guess I am most likely rejected. I lack previous research experience and my GPA is not impressive either. Have fun in the program, you!
If you haven’t heard back yet, I’m assuming that you were rejected (like me!)

“After three rounds of review of approximately 400 applications, we have selected our twelve Clark Scholars for the summer of 2017. We thank you for your interest in this program and we regret that we cannot make offers to more individuals.”
straightup rejected
Has anyone not gotten an email response yet? I haven’t heard anything back (I’m pretty sure I’m rejected anyway lol), and I’m wondering whether rejections are just released in waves or if something’s wrong with my email.
(Now that I’ve typed this karma’s gonna hit me with a rejection 2 seconds later XD)
No, I haven’t received a rejection email either. I got a confirmation email when I send in my app too so I’m guessing it takes some time to send out all the emails?
