My interest in Clark is has been growing for a number of reasons. I heard they have a great IR program and IR is what I want to major in. Plus, I live in Mass. and Worcester is not a long drive from where I live. Can anyone give me more info. on this school? Is it hard to get in? What does it look at on an application? What are some comparable schools? Thanks!

Clark wants students who want to be at Clark, students who may have imperfect academic records but who are passionate about their majors and want to work hard. There are many schools comparable to Clark in some aspect or another, though none just like Clark, so it would help to know more specifically what it is about Clark that appeals to you. I think Clark is featured in the book "Colleges That Change Lives."

Clark is a superb school that is overshadowed by better known College of the Holy Cross which is also in Worcester. However, it is particularly well respected for psychology and it is famous for being the school that Freud decided to visit on his trip to the US. There is a statue at the school to memorialize the famous visit.

I guess Clark appeals to me mainly because of their IR program. Worcester is not an amazing city, but Clark is a solid university from what I have heard. I am not a genius and don't think I'll get 2000 on my SAT's. However, I am really, really passionate about International Relations and the possibility of having a career in diplomacy or at least working for a non-profit organization. What kinds of things does Clark weigh in admissions?

Freud didn't decide to visit Clark; Clark invited him. Freud ultimately loathed the US and everything about it and refused to ever revisit.

Of course, this is not a negative reflection on Clark University. In fact we can praise Clark for having the vision to appreciate Freud's importance and the means and energy to invite him for a lecture tour. Jung was invited and came as well.
