It was and we should have applied to more competitive programs and fewer less competitive. I did cut 2 at the end. That was a relief
Just curious…if you don’t mind me asking…where are you still waiting to hear from? So happy my son applied to and auditioned for his top 2 and got into both before deadlines for other schools. Made it a lot easier.
That’s wonderful @rockinmomab - congrats to you and your son! We’re also waiting on a bunch - almost all the jazz programs require a prescreen process, which made it a little challenging to make any early action deadlines. At least for us.
Still waiting to hear back from North Texas and the University of Texas. Should be any day now.
@drummergirl Thanks so much!!! Good luck to you!!!
Most schools don’t notify you of your audition results until mid-March. They usually say they’ll let you know by April 1. I’m waiting for four still. It’s a lot of pressure, waiting to hear if I’m in anywhere. Getting on the waitlist at Michigan has made me optimistic, though. Good luck to everyone and hang in there-- the end is in sight!
Eastman and Curtis have been known to notify after April 1, I do believe.
@Mezzontherise may I ask how U of M contacted you?
@MTmamaMI for waitlist, I heard via email. However, I know a lot of people who have been accepted in previous years, and they receive an actual phone call. Remember that just because I heard today doesn’t mean that all notifications have been delivered. They most likely make them in waves.
Does anybody know how Michigan State sends out results? I auditioned the first weekend and haven’t heard back. A friend auditioned later than I did and got accepted today. Do they have rolling admission?
Does anyone know if NU is my email or regular mail? Everything was email but then I got a letter in the mail recently (but not admission notification letter yet).
My D received acceptances to U Mich vocal performance on 3/5; NEC 3/6; still waiting to hear from BOCO, Juilliard, NYU-Steinhardt, IU, CMU, UMiami. I have a question about auditions; she sent video auditions to IU and Miami; does anyone know if she will not be considered as seriously as with live audition?
I meant 3/4 for UMich; also she applied to BOCO and NYU-S for MT, not vocal performance.
You never know but I would think you can’t replicate the live audition experience on a video. Most schools recommend live auditions. Good luck
Juillidame congrats! Does she have a favorite?
Her top choices have been Michigan, Juilliard and CMU, not in any particular order; but all the schools she applied to offered something really great or unique, so once she sees where she lands, we will re visit, she’ll take lessons so she can try to make a good decision. If it were me, I’d be totally confused, they are all great schools.
She did the video app to IU because she had conflicts; but they are an outstanding vocal program and the campus is really beautiful, so it gives the best of both conservatory and university worlds. Well, we’ll just have to wait and see if it’s an option.

@cellomom6 did the acceptance come via snail mail? I got an email last week saying decisions would be mailed out Wednesday, but I still haven’t heard. I’m hoping it will be in my mailbox tomorrow.
Snailmail! It was in a pile on the table and we almost missed it. It was a beautiful card. They certainly have style.
