Class Exemplar

Redhead I forgot about one other name you might think about...Col Boyd. He was a real maverick. Bold Gold!!!!

Saw you talking to a couple people outside the area as all of us walked in. Nice flight suit. ;) Asian told me she talked to you.

It's great to see that "Forty Second" Col John Boyd's name has come up. He is considered by many (oddly enough, by the Marine Corps leadership especially) to have been the most influential military strategist since Sun Tzu. Boyd's "OODA Loop" theory has even been adapted and used to great effect by Fortune 500 companies seeking to obtain and hold crucial competitive advantages.

His reputation is further burnished by the fact that he revolutionized the science and art of fighter design. Aeronautical engineering majors at the USAFA should definitely know who he was. He is considered the father of the F-16.

Because of his pugnaciousness and what was sometimes perceived to be his insubordinate manner he made enemies among some top USAF and DoD brass in the late 1960s and early1970s. That helped to ensure that his rank would top out at O-6. But his genius was undeniable.

wait, did redhead actually compliment 2010? i'm astounded. i didn't know she could do it! ;) the dinner was great, and Luke was a true BAMF. LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE!

Luke was certainly an impressive figure and a great Exemplar. Potterfan enjoyed the dinner too. She was allowed to go and said the beef was excellent...for AF food. That followed by a great win against UNLV and a weekend pass to leave the hill have made her a very happy 4*

LLLLLLLLLLLLLUUUUUUUKKKE!!!!!!!!!!! Good Job 2010...

I'm still pulling for Olds to 2011's, but you have to like Boyd too. Boyd was a real "BAMF" and a lot of retired Generals who stood in the way of his star would attest to that. Kinda partial to him being from Nellis.

Olds...our ac. study room is decorated in honor to his kills.

Yeah, eagle, I basically only said that so that you and your entourage won't come beat me during minutes again. I'm a very submissive and quiet little 4 dig now. haha :)

Submissive and Quiet....are you sure you haven't been spending to much time around Potterfan? She sends a shout out from Denver, very happy to be off the Hill for a day or two.

Exemplar update for you all! As my fellow four degrees already know, we've organized a briefing scheduled for this Thursday (we being the exemplar committee). The candidates will be presented and the voting will take place right after it's over (there'll be a 24 hour window to vote online - 2011, you'll get more info about this on Thursday). Your five choices for the '11 Exemplar are:

BGen Robin Olds
GAF Hap Arnold
Gen Chappie James
Col Jackie Cochran
Gen Benjamin Davis

That list is in order of apparent popularity, based on the initial feedback we recieved when asking for nominees. Let's go Olds! ;)

I don't remember voting so early, you guys won't find out for another 4.5 months...

Righto, but we wanted to be on the ball and get the voting done ASAP, since the SSS that we have to send up for the A-jacket tabs apparently takes forever to go through.

Keep up the good work Pete............Oldssssssssss

Well, the polls are closed. We got a total of 942 votes, which I think is pretty good participation. 2011 has an exemplar, and though I can't tell you who it is, I will say that the class made a good choice.

116 days until Recognition! Have a great Thanksgiving everybody.
