Class not listed on Common App

Somehow a class was left off the list of current classes. It was not noticed until after submission to a college. Can it be changed as it is still before the Nov 1 cut off? If so, how do you go about making the change?

Email the general admissions at the college and ask them to please accept this additional information as part of your application. Tell them you name, and if there is some identifying # assigned to you via their app process, include that. If there isn’t, give then the last 4 of your social and maybe your address. You want to make it easy to match the info to your app.

I assume you are concerned about omitting a class on the self-reported section of the common app? I agree with the above, but they will have your official transcript too, which presumably will list the class you omitted on the self-reported section.

What you self report needs to match the transcript. Our kids’ GC was quite specific about this, and had my kids send updates to all their colleges about even minor schedule changes.

I think schools’ concerns is that the transcript shows fewer classes than the Common App, not that the Common App shows fewer classes. But I agree, it is better to match exactly, so just email the college admissions office.

The CAID is a unique identifier assigned by the Common App - include that.

The omission was missed by many including GC. She was concerned about how to adjust. We will take all the advice. I will recommend she email regarding the omitted class. I am sure it will not make or break admission but she wants it to be included. Thanks again

Not sure who was concerned, but have the student send the email. Not sure why the GC would even see the Common App – ours never did. So the GC would have no responsibility for a mistake made by the student when listing classes.

intparent you are correct it is not the GC fault at all for the omission. It is the student. Needless to say it was a short concern by her and is now passed. As far as why he would even see the common app, my guess is that he offered to help students with any questions ect. I know the GC did not see child number 1 app for sure.
