Class of '10 and Applicants

Just thought I would let you know that I lit a candle for you and your intentions in the grotto today. Good luck and keep the faith!

Thank you irish68178 and I greatly appreciate your prayers for all of the class of 2010 applicants.

Thanks Irish

that was very kind of you

ohhh thanks so much! this is such a difficult time :(

Irish,

On behalf of my hopeful and anxious son, thank you for your prayers, and especially for all of the helpful advice you've posted here and on PR over the past months. You've made the waiting more tolerable.

Tony

Thanks for your prayers, Irish. Yet another thing to add to the list of things that would happen nowhere else but Notre Dame.

No problem guys and there is no reason to thank me; again this is just what domers do for (future) domers. Also, I don't think anyone could make the wait tolerable, that is simply impossible (it was for me at least) but I hope I have helped some. I will continue to pray for you guys because I know this is a very difficult time. Good luck everyone and God Bless!

Irish---as a Mom I have also appreciated all your helpful comments. My D was deferred and is nervously awaiting the decision---again. We know God has a plan---we hope it includes ND! Thanks for the prayers.

I hope it includes ND as well. However, if it doesn't, remember that sometimes God works in mysterious ways. Getting rejected was probably the hardest thing I have ever been through (that sounds bad, I know, but Docmom will attest to the fact that I don't know if anyone wanted to be here as badly as I wanted it). However, I can honestly say today that I am THANKFUL for that rejection letter because it forced me to take a step back, re-evaluate, and learn how to work harder than I ever had before so that I could achieve my goal of getting into ND as a transfer. Unlike most of us (honestly), I am PROUD to be a transfer because it was very difficult but I learned so much from it and am a better person now that I have gone through it. God works in mysterious ways and it all works out in the end. However, I hope it ends up working with all of you at ND on the first try!

Just a quick question for Irish, if you dont mind.
How easy was it for you to fit in at ND after you transferred? Were you warmly welcomed?
Thanks in advance for your response.
(Just wondering in case my dreaded rejection comes this fall : (

Thanks Irish! I went to light a candle in my church on Ash Wed but my church had none to light. Thanks :)

No problem btb. I did find that ND was very very accepting of me and a lot of the other students went out of their way to be welcoming. Due to my circumstance, I did not have housing first semester (they have a bit of a housing crunch) so I was in a single apartment off-campus. I was really worried about making friends but some transfers on-campus really worked hard to make sure that we had dinner with them every night and they helped integrate those who were off-campus so that helped a lot. I met all of their friends and developed a great friend base from them. Everyone was very welcoming, however, and I always felt like I belonged here even though I was a transfer.

Hopefully that helps answer your question a bit. Please let me know if you want to know any specifics or have more questions. My fingers are crossed that you won't have to worry about transferring, but if so, I am always here!

Post your STATS!

You want my stats? I am just not sure what you are asking for, lol. Anyways, if you want mine they all can be found at www.nd.edu/~mnadorff/transfer

M-- Thank you for the encouraging words and thoughtful concern that came at a much-needed time... Daughter lit a candle in the grotto last year, and is waiting to hear from ND...

Good luck in your studies...you are in my prayers...God bless.

MS

Thank you for lighting a candle for us irish, i know this wasnt your first for applicants and it wont be your last, but the fact that this one was ment for us means alot man. thanks

No problem, it is the least I can do and I know that some of you will probably also hang around the boards and light candles once you get here. I hope you will anyways as my retirement probably looms (perhaps when I graduate, or maybe I will just be here forever). No worries, I just thought it would help you during this stressful time to know that there is a candle burning at the grotto for all of you :)

aw that's awesome irish...yeah, it does make me feel a little better about all the waiting. thanks!
