Have you visited the campus?: Yes but just a drive through- Alabama was on Spring break at the time.

Major: Not sure

Applying to the Honors College?: Yes

Career goal(s): ???

Any else you’d like to mention: Can’t seem to get him to apply anywhere else. I made him go to one of our state university info meetings with me and he kept writing Roll Tide on the folder! Ended up walking out of that one early and he just won’t put the effort in to write essays for an application to a place he doesn’t plan on attending! So I guess I need to get my checkbook out and send in his enrollment deposit to U of A!

That sounds just like my son! He wrote one essay for KU Honors (got accepted), just not interested in applying anywhere else! He hates writing those essays! We visited the campus a few weeks ago and he loved it! We can’t convince any of his friends to apply, they are looking at MIT, Purdue, Stanford, etc. It will be interesting to see how everyone ends up after they graduate college. Now I just need him to write the two essays for the Fellows program.

Home State: Technically Ohio (I have lived there for several years now) but I’ll always be a Texas girl. :)

Date Applied: Maybe sometime in mid September?

Date Accepted: about a week ago (mid October)

Have you visited the campus?: Not yet! I’m hoping to soon.

Major: Psychology

Applying to the Honors College?: Yes! Still have to apply to the honors college but accepted to school in general

Career goal(s): Most likely a psychiatrist. If not, a psychologist.

Any else you’d like to mention: the list of schools I’m considering is still fairly long but Alabama is definitely a strong possibility for me. :)

Visited: Not yet, planning to do it late January

Major: Mech. Engineering

Applying to Honors College?: Yes, should probably do that today

Career goals: Want to live and work in Germany, hopefully straight out of college. I saw Alabama’s program with Mercedes-Benz as a possible route to take.

Anything else: Starting to lean towards Alabama but I’m very afraid of having to end up living in Alabama if I can’t get to Germany. I know that if I really commit to getting out I will, but the chance of it not happening will always be in the back of my mind. I got the presidential scholarship plus $2.5k/year so going to college for so cheap is very enticing, but I really, really dislike southern politics. I’m hoping that Tuscaloosa is at least somewhat liberal since it is a college town. I’m still thinking about whether or not I should apply to the University Fellows program, it sounds like a huge pain and I don’t think it would be worth it since I have no intention of staying in the South past college + maybe a couple years at most.

The Mercedes Benz coop program with UA will likely place most of the students and future employees in their factories in Alabama and other places in the south.

Any else you’d like to mention: I might minor/ Double major in Microbiology. Also, a 32 ACT and National Achievement commended would get me 2/3 Tuition from school and 1/3 Tuition from Engineering right? Is there anything else that I’m missing? Thank you.

I have a question regarding the mybama web site specifically scholarship offers. If I pull up the academics tab and then look under scholarships, see below for info:

Scholarships (Applied Freshmen & Transfers)
o Application for Scholarships
o Alumni Degree Holder Form
o Scholarship Offers

Shouldn’t my son’s scholarship offer be listed under scholarship offers?
