Hey there CATDECAL! I’d like to know, seeing your stats, did you by any chance receive scholarships? I know the tuition isn’t too high, even for an OOS, but… 'Ole Miss is one of my 4 uni choices (partly due to their amazingly unique Intelligence minor). I’m also an OOS, from Florida, with a 3.4 GPA and 2100+ SAT (1440 CR/M)

@agoodfloridian, They haven’t sent out scholarship confirmation, but Ole Miss is one of the few schools that have guaranteed scholarship for certain performance levels.

Follow this link: http://finaid.olemiss.edu/scholarships/#1

You will need to scroll to the bottom of the page to see the matrix. Bottom line is that your 1440 (and my 33) along with a 3.0 GPA or higher are the precise break-over points to getting pretty close to a full tuition scholarship (including OOS.)

$19,044, per year.

I wonder why its taking so long to get the acceptance letters out? This was the first application my son filled out and the other 3 have already sent acceptance letters of the 4 that has his ACT scores. I know we wont hear back from the other schools until we send out the ACT records, but I thought we should have heard from Ole Miss by now. Maybe they dont want him??

According to the Ole Miss website, the first acceptance letters were mailed on 9/15. Watch your mailbox! You can also see if he is accepted by checking his application online too.

@tlcmommi4, don’t sweat it. They have a rolling admission policy, and will be sending out acceptances for months to come. Don’t be afraid to email your admissions counselor to have them check on things for you. If nothing else, showing interest and following up generally is viewed as a positive thing.

I looked online but it doesnt say anywhere if he is actually accepted … just that all required documents have been “met” and that “Detailed information regarding your admission to The University of Mississippi will be mailed to you shortly.”

I am not that concerned really, I am just surprised since that was the first application he sent in and the ones posting here saying they received acceptance letters already even though they applied at a later date.

I think they are referencing the online acceptance dates. Today is the very earliest an actual letter would arrive.

@tlcmommi4, FYI, where you will see it online when you check is under the heading “Application Status”

The first heading is “Application Information” and will have your application number, name, etc.
The second heading is “Application Status” At first you will see a date then the statement “Your application for admission has been created in the student information system.”
Once you are accepted, there will be a second line below that with a date and the statement “Congratulations! You have been admitted into the following program: …”

Also keep in mind that admission times may vary depending on what college you have applied for at the University. The business school may send acceptances a little before the engineering school. Also with a rolling admissions policy, the first acceptances may go to students who are slam dunks due to very high test scores, or other factors.

I’m confident you’ll get your acceptance soon!

Best wishes!

Ok! Thanks for your help!
