OK- I am doing my typical mommy shtick and decided to start checking out what d has to do next year when applying to Law School. I figured the best way to get a sense of the process is to pull current applications from a few schools. As apps usually do not change too much from year to year, I thought this would give alot of insight in to what needs to be done by my d.
As I thought I was way ahead of the game, I saw that Georgetown is already inviting the class of 2008 to visit the school and attend Admission sessions during this semester. Guess the Class of 2008 is just starting the Law School Admission process. This is all going way to fast for me.
Did see interesting comments about multiple LSAT's on 2 of the Law school sites--
seems like they would prefer one score only. From Northwestern application
"Applicants may take the test more than once, but repetition is not advised unless some disruptive factor has interferred with performance during the first administration." They further say that as there may be a benefit "resulting from prior exposure to the test" they will consider the 2nd score but will realize you had the benefit of taking the test once already. So it may not be that helpful to take the exam a 2nd time- unless your reason is your contact fell out and you did WAY better the 2nd time around. An increase of a few points may not be that helpful for admission purposes.
So it seems alot of schools may just want the one test result unless their is a real good reason why you score was affected negatively.
Just thought the info was interesting and wanted to pass it along.
For all you Class of 2008 undergrads, I suggest you pull an application or 2. It really does give you a concise and clear idea of what you gotta do when applying to Law school-
Good luck to all- And good luck with the February LSAT's.
