Class of 2010-- Come meet your classmates :)

Hey everyone, well the Class of 2010 board is sadly extremely underused, so I thought I'd start a link up here so we could all introduce ourselves. Remember, no mentions of your class rank or SAT score, lol, just introduce yourself, maybe mention your hobbies, and academic interests :)

I'm Diva :) I'm Indian, but I live in Dubai, and attend the American School of here (hence, I don't sound like the guy from Van Wilder :P) I used to live in Japan, and I speak English, Spanish, Hindi, and some pretty basic Japanese, although I can still understand it fully.

I think I want to do the Econ-Poli. Sci. major, because I've been an MUNer in high school and the humanities are definitely for me. I'm realllly not a math and science person, although I'm pretty decent at them if I don't get too frustrated and pull my hair out.

Hobbies...Dancing! I need to find someplace I can take ballet and hip hop near Columbia. Also I might want to get involved with the newspaper, maybe just contribute. And I want to tutor at the schools in Harlem; teaching the little kids to read would be really fun :)

Mostly I'm kinda nervous and terrified, because I come from someplace really sheltered, where everyone's pretty spoiled. It's going to be a wake up call for sure!

Now it's your turn :)

hey, i'm varun...i'll be in seas next year. i come from a small maryland suburb on the outskirts of silver spring.

hmm let's see... i like pizza and pasta a lot. my favorite type of music is r&b, some reggae/rap, and bhangra. what else...i got addicted to "24" this year. i play volleyball on my school team, and i like to play basketball and swim in my spare time. i also love to dance - bhangra, hip-hop, and bollywood.

next year, i want to keep dancing, write for the spectator, and maybe another activity or two.

Hey my name is Lenny and I am in SEAS and I am thinking of majoring in Mechanical Engineering. For more than twelve years I lived in Moldova, a former republic of the Soviet Union. About five years ago, I moved to US and I live in Brooklyn, which is about two hours away from Columbia. I love to play tennis and football, although I am far from a sports body type.

In Columbia I am planning on living in Carman or John Jay, trying out for football and tennis teams, and writing for Columbia Spectator.
I like to listen to about anything from Rock to Rap to Techno music as long as it sounds good.

I am also really open-minded and I hope the first year will be great at Columbia!

Hey guys,

This is Daniel from Toronto, Canada. I'm Korean, lived in Toronto for the last 4 (?) years, previously lived in Tennessee for 5 years, and all over the East Asian continent before that (among them, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and Korea).

I'm also interested in Econ-Poli. Sci, or even Econ-Philosophy. Not too much of a sports buff, but I am a Cross Country runner in my spare time. I'm a big music person though, mostly into Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, or Prog. Metal. I'm an avid self taught electric guitarist (which would probably explain my music tastes) and have been playing for 5 years. I have a broad range of Rock/Metal guitarist influences, so for anybody who wants to chat, I'd be more than happy to.

At Columbia, I'm looking to jam with fellow metalheads, contribute to the Spectator (seems like a bit of a fad now that I look at it) and take part in Model UN or Debating. I'm really looking forward to all the bright friendly people I'll meet, and just being at Columbia in general! So enough about me, what about you?

I'm probably the most generic Columbia student out there: I'm Asian and from New Jersey. Nice to meet you guys, though :)

shimmy: what influences?

i'm a bassist and looking for people to play with (i'd say my influences are Rage Against the Machine, Mudvayne[tho i cant play ryknow, too crazy],Glassjaw, Nonpoint, and Will Haven to name a few)

Otherwise, my name is Michael(Mike, whichever), going to SEAS plan to major in BME. Hobbies are playing my bass, playing lacrosse, and jiu-jitsu. Live in Virginia at the moment but moving to Albany,NY over the summer, born in South Africa tho and lived all over. Ummm....hoping to get a JJ single...think that's it...

Hey Skraylor, pleasure to meet you, and hopefully I'll be able to catch you sometime during the year so that we can jam. Among the many guitarists I credit as my influences, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, Eddie Van Halen of Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Randy Rhoads of Ozzy, Eric Clapton as himself, John Petrucci of Dream Theater, Zack Wylde of Ozzy, Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, the twin guitars of Iron Maiden, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, and yes Tom Morello of RAGE. There's a lot more, but they just don't seem to be coming to me right now.

Hi, my name is Nishant (I'm from CA). I listen to music a lot and generally do stuff. Huzzah!

Hi, I’m Tom. I’m live in Washington, DC but grew up in Austin, Texas. Any new, gay students out there?

Hi, I'm Delia, and I'm from Sydney, Australia. I like maths, piano, drawing, and good coffee. My favourite color is red and I have a cat called Spaghetti. I always sound mean online.

Um...nothing else to say! ROAWR!

heya, this is quinn from singapore. CC, econ+X (still figuring out what X is). my academic interests/hobbies: market systems, civil liberties, asian pop culture, jazz. i'm a little older than you guys b/c i was drafted into the army for a while.

looking forward to meeting all you friendly people!
