Class of 2010 - Technology

According to my plebe the Voyage 200 rocks -- does everything an 83 or 89 can do but with a much easier interface and larger display. Says you'll love it and never go back :)

I hate Macs

"Should have given them a Mac."
-zaphod

Morale would increase by 1000 percent is they gave mids Apple computers! ;)
I hate pc's--for the first time in my life I'm having to use a piece of junk pc and it's very depressing. Thank goodness we have Apple computers at home.

Gave my mid a G4powerbook for making it through plebe summer in one piece; though she can't use it on the school network.

Well, there's no accounting for taste...

I started using Mac 18 months ago. I'll never go back.

Why Macs S*ck

That has got to be the dumbest (and perhaps most totally innacurate) piles of manure I have ever seen. The guy should replace "Mac" with "PC", because NONE of what he describes has EVER happened to me on my Mac, but BOY has it happened on PC's.

Obvioulsy put together by a shyster who can spin a good fairytale but not tell the truth to save his life.

He should go work for Micro$oft.

Well, at least Apple users don't have to waste their money buying anti-virus software or deal with viruses PERIOD! :)

Viruses?

What are those?

Also, what's this "Spyware" thing people are always going on about?

;)

I am curious about one thing, though. Why in the name of all that is holy would they be issuing desktops instead of laptops?

You'd think that with the space restrictions in the hall, as well as being able to go to Nimitz Hall and the labs and such, laptops would be a better choice.

I know I'd certainly prefer it!

Zaphod: My thoughts exactly!

usna09mom: I like Macs for that one reason.

Wow, the only holy war this forum hasn't gotten into lately is Red Sox-Yankees. :)

Well, Spidermom, that's because any Yankees fans don't want to get into a battle against us two. They know that they wouldn't be able to win. And dare I say it, I don't know if a Yankees fan would be worthy of a Service Academy...

~RSN!~

Ahem....

<-- Yankee fan AND USNA graduate. :D

Remember: Boston only wins when NY LETS them.

Let's do it again in 2096! ;)

Oh, Zaphod, I'm so sorry, but I have just lost all respect for you. I know, I know, this disappoints you greatly, but I can't respect a Yankees fan. I can't help it, either...it's just a natural reaction to hearing such news. You're always welcome to redeem yourself, though, by switching AWAY from the Dark Side.

We got it this year. We deserve a good Sox season after that tumultuous Pats experience.

Jeez! A boston (lower-case deserved) fan AND a Marine, and you talk about respecting ME?

LOL!

;)

I was in Newport when your pal Buckner literally dropped the ball. I'll have you know that NAPS ROARED in celebration that night! :D

Geez....... To lose to the METS, of all people! :o

Haha, Buckner? Buckner who? I don't know of any Buckner... (the denial aspect of being part of RSN.)

Obviously, that was not the best NAPS class...please tell me that at least SOME of your classmates were good people, who cried that whole night. And come on, Newport's an hour away from Boston (capital B)! You HAVE to cheer for Boston if you're that close!

Semper fidelis: I apply this motto not just to the Marines, but as a Red Sox fan. See how the two go together? "Always faithful"...even if it takes 86 years!

I'm still trying to figure out why they would give us such a powerful CPU (3.4 GHz which is awesome) but so little RAM (512).

Well, in all honesty, I haven't followed baseball (or ANY sport, for that matter) since about 1981 or so. I got fed up dealing with the overpaid primadonnas that pass for athletes these days.

Generally, I only watch the playoffs/World Series when the Yanks are in, and even then not religiously. I watched several of the pennant games that year, and will admit that it was a masterful performance, especially by that pitcher with the bad foot. The fans who have stuck by there team deserved it, and I'm glad that, FOR ONCE, their team didn't screw the over.

The Yanks choked. Bad. I was in Fall River at the time, but I got even by wearing my Bush-Cheney hat through Boston Logan airport later. ;)

All that said, the Red Sucks STILL suck! ;)

The only game I watch religiously is the Army-Navy Game, and as we all know, there's only one real side to that one! :D

Hey! No re-hijacking! ;)

Zaphod, you are dealing with a woman who made sure her youngest daughter's first words were "Yankees S**k". RSN forever, boston_USMC!

Sandiegodude, my thoughts, too. I wonder if they let you add your own extra RAM?

I have a high end mac mostly for video editing and own 4 PCs (we are nerds). Must say, the mac is the only one that never crashes. I consider myself "bilingual" and neutral in the OS wars, though. Unlike my stance re the Sox....I have this great Dropkick Murphy's shirt of A-fraud (also known to the rsn as slappy the clown) getting jacked up by Jason Varitek. <end of="" threadjack..sorry=""></end>

Proof positive that our nation is going into the toilet.

The first tune my daughter ever heard was "Navy Blue and Gold", sung quietly to her by me as she dozed, about an hour after birth.

I'm bringing MY kids up RIGHT! :D
