meru, why does it matter if you’re out of state for RIT? It’s a private school, they don’t care either way.

Redsox, I never knew that. Thanks for informing me. ;)

No problem, it’s a pretty easy school to get into imo so you shouldn’t have a problem if you score atleast like a 1750 on the SAT and have a 3.5 GPA.

I haven’t taken the SAT yet but my current ACT score translates in to 1860(ish). Maybe RIT is a match for me, then. I’ve heard some good things about RIT, but that darn NY weather! :(

Your ACT score seems to be pretty good (28?). Yeah, I have looked at the school and the weather is miserable like for most of the year. Also, the male:female ratio is pretty pathetic. The academics are alright from what I’ve heard, it seems to be challenging, but the problem is that many students who cannot do the work get accepted there so it kind of brings down the name of the school. I think RIT is a match, you’re so lucky UIUC is in-state for you, such a great school!

BTW, you should look into Worcester Polytechnic Institute, I think the weather is a little bit better (not by much though) lol.

Yup, 28! I used to go to NY often, and man it was horrible. Ah, yeah I’ve heard about that. It’ll be interesting if I end up going there since I’m a girl. I think it’s kind of cool since I’ve heard RIT guys are mostly “geeks” and geeks are pretty awesome.
Yeah, the retention rate is pretty low there. That’s what the slackers get! Everyone at my school bashes UIUC because it’s in-state and apparently everyone gets in (not true!), I just don’t understand them. It’s a awesome school and has some great programs.

Yeah since I live in CT, everyone thinks that UCONN is a bad school and accepts like 95% in-state applications, which is obviously false. Purdue University is also a really nice school, I’ll probably apply there as well. If you want to do computer science, you might want to try a school like Carnegie Mellon University, their program is ridiculously good.

MIT
Harvard
Princeton
Cornell
UPenn
U of Chicago
Carnegie Mellon
Case Western (safety)
Ohio Sate (safety)

Really hope I get accepted by at least one top 20 school.
