yay. there's the computer science person i was looking for.. :D i am not alone

I believe I am the only philosophy major here =)

weird...i thought princeton was strong in philosophy :/

me toooo.
i guess they are all in their rooms reading books instead of on the internet posting on useless forums ;]

Philosophy is my second choice, if I don't get into Woody Woo (or if I just like it better).

yeap guys....my phone interview is in four hours approx. Any last minute advice? has anyone done a phone interview?

i've had mine a couple of days ago.. and this is what i have to say from my li'l experience.

dont be tensed- remember that the interview has very little significance in the application proces... that will hopefully help you relax... you must refrain from reading chances threads on cc (lol)...

also, be ready with zingy questions about Princeton... most part of the interview is spent in the interviewer talking about the school and his experiences as a student... be confident when you are talking about yourself, but not to the extent of bragging... and also, pool up all your love for pton during the interview and it definitely reflects in your voice..

its all the usual stuff that i have to say, but i hope it will be of some help to you in the last minute! all the best! do keep us posted...

hey all of you in the Princeton area- did you go to the bonfire?

thanks alot spacepirate..... it's a bit nerve racking i must say....I have practiced all the posible questions the person might ask from....from interst, to the "what would you be doin in 5/10 years questions" to currentaffairs.... I think it might go on well,.....hopefully that is.

Did yours go closely to what you planned before the interview? like the direction of questions and all?

what bonfire?

MY INTERVIEW WAS.....GREAT GUYS!!!! AAH JUS HAD IT NOW

Everything flowed the way i wanted it.....she was so happy...we went on and on from everything you can pssibly imagine....aaah! i am so excited now.....She even said that Princeton is a perfect fit for me....OMG! do they say that to everyone?????

no they dont, but keep some perspective.

yea i was just having a moment there...lol. But overall it went well i must say again....

good.. my interviewer said she doubts if anyone will get into pton if i dont. lol!

lol....wow! thats even better than mine...lol... Isnt it a bit re-assuring when they say stuff lyk that...?

it is... but it gives me a feeling that they say such nice stuff to everyone they interview...

yeah...but i cant help but believe that they mean it in a way....

let me tell you guys my interview experience... here it goes:

my interviewer was the dean of a very prestigious b-school here. so obviously i was so scared that i carried extra pants... my interviewer didnt talk or even email to me before the actual interview. the date and time of the interview were all arranged by her secretary. her secretary asked me to 'report no later than 2pm' in the dean's office, and all the mail convos were VERY formal. that heightened my fears- it was no casual starbucks interview this one...

for the interview, i googled up what questions the b-school interviews generally have... i prepared my resumes, carried along a few magazines and news clippings that featured me, some photographs and certificates too... i just prepared so much for the interview that i had to bunk school from the day before the intervew...

on the day of the interview- i had a quick breakfast, cast my jeans in the trash can and sat to iron the most formal looking pants and shirt that i had... thankfully, i wasnt too awkward in that outfit and in fact it very well suited the atmosphere of my interview area... almost everyone in the b-school were in suits, so i wasnt left feeling embarassed.

after half an hour security processes, i was led to the dean's office by a security guard and then had the secretary greeting me. another hour of waiting, and finally i was in the office! my interviewer apparently had a bad day at work that day... her hair was messy, and she was very irritable... i almost reached out for my spare pants in my bag. anywayz, she stared at me sternly for a couple of seconds and asked "so this interview is for your princeton admission, eh?" and that left me appalled! what a way to begin! "princeton is very selective, in fact the most selective university in the us".. right.. "which school are you from?" "what do you do just for the fun of it".. i then hand over my resume... she looked impressed... she went on with very specific questions on all the stuff i had included on my resume. she eased down a bit as we went through the interview and most of our interests did match... she told me her experiences as a grad student at woody woo and i made her feel good by admiring her. lol... finally she did say i was a strong applicant and such fluff... i told her some nice stuff too and took leave... partied hard that night and skipped homework. thus ended the much dreaded interview!

lol.....mine was the direct opposite....not only was it as informal as it can get..... it was on the phone....

but damn...if i was in your shoes, i probalbly would have fainted on the way to the office. But atleast it ended well..
