Class of 2011 from Nepal...lets discuss here

ooh ya I just asked him randomly without thinking. lol

lol. comfy has got a point. I am not from STXC. I did +2 from one of the reputed ones in the country. Yes Shail I am definitely working on my essays. Showing them to my teachers. There is room for lot of improvement in my writing. Guys if I am not mistaken then teachers frm STXC also say U rite I sign for recos don't they. Well that happened with my brother two years back. I don't know the system now. right now I am writing letters of recommendation for myself.

I was wondering abt the TOEFL thing. Do we still have CBT in Nepal? Has IBT come into practice? Just wanted to know because a fren of mine asked mme yesterday and I didn't know wat to say.

even i have heard the same ...about the recos that is..and regarding the CBT...its because of the transition from CBT to IBT that might be causing all this mess...and how did your +2 go no_novice?....

This application and all is getting on my nerves already... I have changed so many plans to give my SAT once again!!!

guys this thread went to the second page. Just wanted to bring it back to the first one. It also nice to see the word 'Nepal' on the first page of the International forum.

yup...we really need to get this thread going....Nepal Rocks...

The thread must go on!!!! i agreee... shail must be really happy !!!!! after all you started this one!!!

hehe...true...
where is everyone else?

At their homes may be........Procrastinating till the last minute to write their essays ..then getting frustrated and instead of writing the essays , logging on CC and posting random posts.

haha....in sheer anxeity and nervousness i guess...

We are all procrastinators of one thing or the other... Writing about myself makes me so nervous... somehow "writer's block" seeps in, I get more and more obsessed with every sentence to the point of stopping to write altogether. Gosh! I had sent it already to my ED college... It's just waiting game now!!!!

yeh...thinking wat to do and wat not to.

that reminds of Shakespeare.. hehe
"To do or not to do.. that is the question"
Was it from Hamlet?

Yeah bro chill out... a very wise man said to me ... while writing application essay think of someone who wont criticize you... it helped me!!!

I am not sure but it was " to be, or not to be" in Hamlet. Isn't it. and thanks. btw is the wise man u?

no.................... i really got that advice from a wise man... a professor...

"right now I am writing letters of recommendation for myself."

Somebody mentioned this...it is the beauty of Nepal :) I wrote mine too...some of my frens liked it and used it for them...one of them got accepted with full ride...i helped on his essay too...

I am in US guys...a freshman...applying for transfer to top LACs and Ivies...

My suggestion: good grades + good SATs are essential, "collect" some ECs and document them wisely, show what you are(your strengths) in your essay--this can be hard, start writing your essay a long time before your deadline (:( i didn't do that), don't consider it seriously that you have to be concise but yes don't be too lengthy, don't forget some safeties.

Once again...essays can be critical as you have to stand out among others with same standards...even if you are outstanding that may not be obvios...you have to show.

so u're a Nepali, an undergrad freshman in US. rite?? thanks for the advice. I guess we all applying this yr know the imp of essay by now

yep.. essays are very important, esp if you are applying to top colleges. i'll be glad to see a few essays if you wish... i love reading essays. don't count on me to make extensive changes though.. i can only give suggestions and correct a few grammatical errors perhaps.

Hey everyone! I am a new kid on this block. ( not a kid anymore in life though).
