I am thinking of some ivies as well…worth trying?

Need some advice as to where do I exactly lie in my application process…
Competitive, slight chance, no chance, strong points, weak points??

I am desperate to ‘know myself’ help me out…

You're pretty strong. What do you want to major in?

Hey.
I think Vassar and Lafayette are more like matches for you.
I see only one minus in your whole profile- I think you should have on EC thingie that you are most interested in and to which you have shown great dedication.
Otherwise.. I wish I could steal your sat results...
Hope everything is great in Nepal!

Add a couple of safeties and remove a few of the matches (unless some of the matches are really safeties in disguise :) ).

Primarily on Engineering but i guess ultimately its gonna be computer science

Vassar and lafayette are matches!!!!! sounds cool... didn't know that actually.. hehe... thanks...regarding the EC... student leadership is one thing i have always dedicated myself...have written one essay as well on that...hope to make it my stronghold

how about lake forest college and st john's university for safeties?...i mean they are safeties for me right?

sure they are. but don't tell them :P

nirmala... where r u from and what are your stats? where all are you applying?

go to the "advice on colleges" thread, it's below yours. there are my stats.
btw, i doubt that people with worse scores compared to yours will want ot compare them!

No good college in US will judge you on your 'stats' alone....for example, someone with a score of 2100 gets in while the one with 2300 cant...the answer is very simple(infect right under your nose)......
the former had a good EC's,good essay as compared to the 2300 one...(I think now you got my point..)

What's your stats newton btw. where r u from?

I am from India,my stats-85%(round)....
will be giving SAT.....

As I hav told u stats dont matter much(it matters upto a certain level),so dont be in the illusion of getting selected on the bases of your stats...

any feedbacks about my college list issac?

Well, you are applying to many colleges.....cant say much about there rankings....but you have good chances for almost 9 to 10 of them.....(provided you work on things other than stats...)

what is the foremost of these 'other things'? can u please suggest me in bit detail?

If you want to major in Computer Science, why haven't you thought of Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, UT Austin, UCB, UIUC and the like?

well i had.. if not for certain reasons...

stanford.. too many i mean too many doing there.. so thought to pull out of the mass
canegie mellon.. well... don't know exactly but i guess i pulled out because of fin aid..

It all came down to money and i chose those who showed me hopes of giving it to me.. that's the bottom line really...

well, the ''the other things'' are your EC's,essay, recommendations(not that imp.,as they will always recommend u),the way U arrange things in EC's and essays...............Have A Nice Day!
