(I swear I'm not usually this absent-minded. It's the APs.)

I got the letter that said my scores were high enough that I could apply for National Merit. I promptly lost the letter in the paper-shuffling of the past week. Does someone mind telling me what was on it (what I have to do now, important dates)?

If I remember correctly it gave me a user ID and password to log on a particular site...I'm not sure what to do about that.

The letter doesn’t actually allow you to apply for National Merit. It just tells you you’re in the top 50,000. You’re either a semifinalist or commended and they notify you about that in Sept. 2010 through your high school.

You don’t HAVE to do anything. All that the paper allows you to do is send this information to “two colleges or universities of your choice by the College Plans Reporting Service (CPRS). This service is offered to encourage college officials to communicate directly with you about educational opportunities that may be available and we hope it will help you as you plan or college. There is no charge for this voluntary service, and your decision about whether to use it will have no effect on your standing in the National Merit Program.”

The phone number they give is (847) 866-5100. I guess you could call them and see if you can get your ID and password if you want to take advantage of their service, but it’s not necessary or required.

The response deadline for using CPRS is May 25.

And I completely understand about misplacing things. lol. more than i should.
