More than 1,375 high school seniors have committed to Tulane University and will enroll in August as Tulane's Class of 2011. This is the largest one-year increase in first-time freshmen in the history of Tulane. In addition, as of this date, the university has also received a record number of applications and deposits from transfer students for next fall.

that is sweet...what was the EXACT admit rate? it was 38% last year so hopefully it stayed the same or went down...do you know the act/sat scores, did they go up? tulane is awesome!

Wow, great news for Tulane! This new class of 2011 is going to be full of great people who want to make a difference in the world!... and have fun and learn something at the same time. Yeah Tulane and New Orleans!

It is the largest increase only because last year saw the largest decrease. The class of 2007 which graduates in a few days had 1675 freshmen enroll. That is 300 more than this class of 2011. What we are seeing is a recovery not growth.

Not sure what effect it will have on USNWR rankings or if they will even use this years numbers. I know early on we lobbied to use pre-katrin numbers for this year one reason being that freshman to sophomore retention is one of the factors USNWR uses and it really isn't too fair a number for schools hit by katrina. Also wasn't one of our strong points to start with. On the other hand last year helped our per student endowment which is really pretty much what the USNWR rankings end up measuring.

If SAT test scores were the only criteria we would always have ranked higher. Those were down a little last year as well but not a lot. Katrina was a big blow and hopefully this is the beginning of the Green Wave comming back in.

Saw the article on my email this morning. Although my S had to transfer out due to elimination of his Engineering major, we still <3 Tulane and New Orleans. This is great news, imo, evidencing confidence in the institution post-Katrina, and great for New Orleans.
