class of 2012, international applicants

Where are you applying from? Did you receive any letters yet?
Anyone from Canada?

I'm from Taiwan..but I'm not considered international by the admission office because I'm a permanent resident. But I still consider myself an international haha.

Is it much harder to get in as an international applicant?

Im from India
No i dont think any international has got a letter yet

I think it's generally harder for international applicant to get in college in the States.

I'm not international per se, as I've lived in the States for about 3 years now. But for classification purposes I would be a Chinese international.

My status just changed to the "being reviewed" phase, and according to the threads, it might not be in time for Trustee/Presidential. However, isn't there a merit half-tuition scholarship just for internationals? Hmm my haunch is, they notify internationals later...at least I hope so.

Best of luck to all!

sc i think has the highest rates of international students around the us. its not hard guys. but do try. even if you are borderline. i'm international. spring. transfer.

I know for a fact that USC has a 51% admit rate for international students

aj16,

are your sure? Where can you find out how many international students USC take? Which countries do most of them come from?
And when do you think the d letters to international students will go out? soon ? I hope

Well i know for a fact that USC has a 51% acceptance rate for internationals and i know people who have validated that.

Weedee, USC admits about 300-350 international and obviuosly most are from India and China.
I have no idea when we would get our decision letters from USC but i guess that those shortlisted for the big scholarships would get them first and everyone else by April

Have any international students recieved their letters yet??
I have a feeling international students were not included in the first and second waves of acceptances so far

just a question. I'm international, and i didn't apply for scholarship consideration so I applied on jan 10, but my app status already says that my app is being reviewed....
given the 3 weeks that it takes to get mail from the states to Myanmar, when do you think I would get a decision?

Anyone knows the previous percentage of the accepted intl applicants applying to Marshall? or other schools?

Which schools are you guys applying? and from which country?

I'm applying to CLAS as a Chinese citizen.

international from canada~~~
i haven't heard yet, and my status thing is stuck on 'being reviewed by admission committee...really hoping for a scholarship but i guess its not likely T.T
any internationals who's accepted already?

My status is stuck on being reviewed too...

dead_crocodile, I think we missed the Trustee/Presidential but still have a shot at Deans and the International Freshman Academic Scholarship.
Also, is anyone applying for the Bacc/MD program? I heard that letters were sent out Friday.

I think it is easier for intl students to get in because schools allocate spaces specially for intl students because they need to have a certain % reserved for them to keep up with their diversity "image". The reason why it is easier for intl students to get in , assuming everyone has similar standardized test scores is because all their other credentials like high school transcripts and local exam transcripts are not as easy to evaluate compared to those by US students. Also, I have found out that there are international agents who charge fees to help them doctor fake documents in some seedy countries. However, in all fairness, it is "harder" for intl students personally to get in, more so because of language difficulties encountered when taking those standardized tests than it is a university's admission stringency or admittance ratio. So the difficulty of getting accepted according to an intl student is self made.

i'm a Chinese international, and I received my admittance letter about 2-3 weeks ago. It was kinda of strange b/c I forgot to send them my financial statement, yet they still admitted me.

I'm a finalist for the trustee scholarship though. Maybe that had to do with it?

International from India here :</p>

wait how is it possible that u were accepted 2-3 weeks ago? i thot they only started sending out acceptances end of jan?
