A 30 is better than an 1830. I think it is considered to be a 2000?

Edit: It’s a 1980:

@TRUFFLIEPUFF

Are you by any chance asian?

He’s probably a 5’3 Asian that is 90 lbs.

@PioneerJones

Yellow and proud

@r0kang3l I’m a girl btw. And I’m 5’3 and 103 lbs.

So close, SO CLOSE!

–Should have realized that from your name, unless you were a gay Asian.

^ how is being 13 lbs off and guessing the wrong gender even close?

Hey, I got the same height, and was still only 13 lbs off. Some person could have said you were a 6’2 90 lb Asian! I think I did pretty well, thank you very much.

And plus, I said ‘he’ because people usually write ‘he’ if they do not know that person’s gender.

^ lol. very noice.

^i never said that they did nor did i say a 19xx was good either and i said that i will be raising it this summer. i only shared my SAT score to prove to PioneerJones that my score was indeed higher than those top 3 pple at my school who were accepted into UCB thus proving my stats are better than them thus proving my confidence in UCB as a safety school which goes back to him wondering if i was joking when i considered it as a safety.

All right, TRUFFLIEPUFF, here’s the deal.

You are a completely typical asian applicant. I don’t mean to discriminate against your ethnicity, but it must be said. There are tons of smart asians who are superficially involved in several clubs, play piano, play tennis, top of their class, and have been planning for college since they could crawl. I won’t say much about your test scores, since you still have plenty of time to bring them up, but know that most of the schools you listed wouldn’t accept you as of now. I don’t want to disillusion you: just realize you will have to work much harder than you might think.

And why would you want to transfer OUT of one of the most elite public schools in the country? A competitive atmosphere would seriously increase your chances of acceptance at top universities. I’d rather be in the top 10% of a rigorous and competitive school than the valedictorian of a (as you put it) ****ty school.

^ my brother wasn’t admitted in and due to many reasons with transportation inconvenience topping them, my mom couldn’t drive across the whole city for hours just to take and pick the both of us up to and from school. it just couldn’t be done. so yeah i basically sacrificed it. my mom’s stress level is high and she’s dealing with first stage of breast cancer so why would i want to burden her with that? and i already am fully aware of the whole stereotypical asian applicant situation. i’ve prepared for that also. did you not read what i had said? I said i would be participating in summer research at CALTECH as i’ve already called up a professor who agreed. i’m also going to be doing INTEL ISEF if you did not manage to catch that either. that will definitely separate me from those other asian applicants who do the typical clubs and sports with a 4.0 and high SAT scores but i don’t think summer research or competing in one of the top nationally acclaimed science and engineering contests is on their list.

^ Do you need to look at the list of people who participate in that? A BUNCH of Asians do that.

http://www.societyforscience.org/Document.Doc?id=205

That list has a load of asians.

Just saying, it’s really hard to differentiate nowadays.

^ no…the majority is white. the asians who do compete in that are from other countries who i probably will not compete with considering they are not from the US. look carefully. & for the asians who do happen to compete in that who do live in the US, what is the ratio of that to those who are applying to colleges? yeah.

^While that may distinguish you from other applicants, scientific research and engineering contests are not at all uncommon among the majority of applicants to top universities. In your case, they may put you a nose ahead of others in the applicant pool, but won’t give you enough of a boost to warrant a comfortable admission to most of the schools you listed.

I will say that I’m impressed with your academic tenacity, however. Just be wary that top schools are reaches for everyone, even the best of applicants.

^ lol yeah HYPSM and Ivy are definitely reaches of which i never said they weren’t.
but, really, for the latter, i’m pretty confident with UCB, UMAA, and Rice as long as i stick to my plan that’s why i consider them safeties.

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it you will land among the stars.”

Yeah, depth > participation. I already know that.

^What did they place?

That there makes you a nice applicant if you get gold, or silver. Even bronze. Gold just says you’re a leader.

^Those are the times when I wish I was Asian.

TRUFFLIEPUFF, I don’t doubt your ability to get accepted to UCB or UMAA, but Rice is more selective than you might think. Take it from a Houston native, Rice is on par with most ivy leagues in terms of selectivity. I would think twice before considering Rice a safety school.

^ Haha alright.
