Class of 2013 from Nepal

Thnx a lot S33D

guys lets share our college plans.......who is applying to which coll?
I will be applying to Dickinson, Reed, Trinity Coll and Gettysburg for regular...for ED still not sure

"Hello, Joshi, it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help solve another member's problem, or just join a conversation?"

Just needed to get that thing out of the top of my page!

anybody's thinkin of middlebury for ED?????????????

Is it true that the Xavier students and other A levels students have the upper hand in the application to the good colleges than we students from plus +2? If its so, I will abandon my thought of goin to a gud college.

I have my sat I on dec. So only RD remains as an option. I'm thinking of applying to reed,swarthmore, maybe williams. But I still need to do a lot of researching.

And I can see myself struggling to meet the deadlines.

Hey!pomo when's your TOEFL and SAT II?

@srijanak,
It's not that an I Sc student or a A Level student has a higher chance of getting into good colleges.......................It actually doesn't matter.So, don't hesitate to go for your match ..

What has a student got to do with a college's reputation? Just forget everything and remember who you are and what you want.......Best of luck to all applicants from +2,A-levels,I Sc and what else???????????

I-Sc ko result kahile huncha????Aani Xavierians heard about the alumni party......When's that?

Yo thread ko sabai bhanda gafadi mai hun hola........What do ya think???Please vote for me........Just to keep the thread movin......

@srjanak:I really can't see why +2 students might have a disadvantage.
there have been many +2 students, in the past, who have made it to good colleges.........So,as cui bono don't hesitate to go for ur match.

@neo-nietzsche:I haven't even finalized a single college yet but i think i need to get it sorted out soon before its too late.BTW is tht ur final list?

@cui bono: I don't know about pomo101's toefl but i think his SAT-II's are on october.

BTW How many SAT-II exams r u sitting for?

Also, could someone plz tell me wht would be the ideal number of colleges to apply to?
P.S.cui bono i think its way too early to tell tht after all its only just 14th Aug right now and we still have a long way to go.

Even I don't know about my TOEFl.

My best guess is Nov.

@ivy30: I've chosen Physics,Chem and Math level 2 for the subject tests.

@ivy30..I will apply to those colls and also few others at least 5 more..two top ones may be Duke and Vassar and 3 safeties....for ED I will apply to F&M...I think I m opting for the safest choice for ED so that I wont have to go thru the regular one!
do apply for at least 8 colls..2 top notch, 4 matches..and few safeties.

@pomo101: good choices...physics is really the piece of cake..no big deal to get even 800...chem is okay..maths two is difficult but few days for it wud be fine to get the perfect score..
@everyone: good to see lots of posts these days!!!

Regarding A Levels being preffered over +2 or I.Sc, it does not matter provided that you get good scores at SAT subject tests and reasoning as well...coz colls need to have the clear-cut understanding of your academic standing and for that they trust A levels more than +2 or I.Sc of Nepal as far as I know...even IB or AP courses more than A-levels...but I have seen many cases where good students from +2 are getting into good colls wid poor SAT subject scores as well....so this opinion is open to logical refutations

@pomo101,
I don't think any dates are available for November TOEFL......The number of test takers have increased drastically this year....I saw piles of filled registration forms for the TOEFL when I went to register( not for TOEFL though..).

@ivy30,
I'll be taking Maths Level II,Physics and Chemistry.....

I think I'll be applyin to atleast 10-15 colleges.........probably not more than 10....

@everyone,
Any one started with their essay??

Thnx a lot
I'm thinking of taking Math II, Physics and Math I.

@pomo101:I think u should take the earliest date for the TOEFL and get it out of the system.U wouldn't want the TOEFL bothering u at tht crucial period especially if u have ur SAT I in december

@neo-nietzsche:

I couldn't agree more.
I think the adcoms are more familiar with A level than +2 or I.Sc. and so the A level students might have a slight advantage over others but with good SAT II scores u can easily negate those disadvantages.So, I don't think A level students have an upper hand in college admissions.

@cui bono:I have started plenty of essays but they are nowhere near being finished.So, yes I have started with my essay.

@srjanak:If u r still not convinced then u can always sit for an AP but I really don't think that would be necessary.

But I think AP exams are available only sometime around May! So I don't think it helps.................It may benefit U with some credits ;that's it.......

do anyone knw where can i find colleges for spring deadline......

Thank you for da reply.........it really gave me some boost.......would definitely apply to my match
