hey pals- lets put our stats n intended ED colleges so that we dont clash our ED choices.
As for me,
SLC-82
+2-77
SAT I- 1420
SAT II- NO
ECAs- I consider its great- volunteering, social service, job experiences, great leadeship qualities, n blah blah
Recos- Great(teachers know me well n really love me)
Essay-its the loophole. i havnt started but ther is 20 more days n a whole novel can be written in that period. it will be brilliant.
INTENDED ED COLLEGE- NOT SURE BUT GETTYSBURG OR FRANKLIN
N MARSHALL
INTENDEN MAJOR- Business n Political Science(Double major)
HEY dude- chance n suggest me

lets not clash our ED coz its very valuable as everyone is applying for gigantic financial aid.

^Don't worry about the ED clashes..........after all it's unavoidable.........So just go for ur drm college.

is the person applying to stanford from sxc present in the forum? And all the Stanford EDers, have u written the essay for int vitality?

^^Yes one here!! But RD!!!!!!!!!
And I think there is sb else from SXC who is not in CC.I think he is applying ED...So there's gonna be a fierce competition...Wheatstone could you post your STATS???
And what r u interested in???Psychology Or Eng Or sth else....

@cui bono, if i were interested in psychology or english, i most probably wouldnt apply to stanford. Is there a misconception that RBS people are always interested in English or psycho??!! Dunno what i am interested in...i want to explore...but i still prefer univ over LACs ...wierd
My stats r not stellar; they're just human..
9 and ten: distinction rank: 1
A levels: PCB 4As 1B, i got down from 5As in internals to 4As 1 B(will that be a disadv?)
Rank: my school doesnt rank but i must be top 1 to 2% of class.
SAT1 gave this oct
SAT2: 2240 (retaking...bcoz i got unexpected scores in the subject i love)
REcos: I'd say good. i used to be the best in the classes of teachers i asked recos from
ECs: attended 2 out-of-country conferences, community service is pretty impressive, gotten some awards for competitions, etc and have internships at two very good places one of which one is a national health council and the other is an INGO, habitat for humanity, and other trifle things like writing, clubs and so on.
Essays: i am working on them; again they wont be stellar they wont be bad either.
Thats it. Just trying my luck and believing in myself.
cui bono, why dont u post ur stats? and wht abt cicatrix, let me get a feel of what my rivals are like ;)....hehe

Check this link out...some really straight forward tips about what to do and what not to do in your essays...not the same old "be urself" crap
U.Va. Office of Admission Essays

@neo...

hell yeah m frm bnks ... someone frm cubical next to yrs...cubical #6..... cheers...

@everyone...
anyone up for swat in EDs??

I know someone who's doing ED to swat ... he's pretty good.. an amazing boy hehe

@Wheatstone1,
Is psychology that bad??? Why do ppl underrate it?? Infact it is one of the most difficult disciplines and is interesting too. But it is surprising that people feel shame to mention that they are interested in psychology..And RBS has nothing to do with psychology. I was just asking that because Stanford has one of the strongest programmes in psychology.......
And by Eng I didn't mean English, I meant Engineering..

And abt stats I've posted them before and I intend to repost it only after it has been updated. So it takes sometime. And BTW I'm applyin RD and we would compete only if u get Deferred(I don't wish tht for u!)....Best of luck!!

And this is my 100th post!!

bro Kenyon is yours

hey guys i am planning to change my ED from Lafayette to Standford
Stats:
SAT 2 2370
Rank : within 5%
Grades: 4A1b

come on sweethearts don't fret over competition and not getting into college and all the nonsense...college will be annoyingly droll if you find out you don't quite like it... you'll get wrinkles and become bald by your 22nd birthday unless you stop worrying so much... read a poem or two.. this one I found in a college essay question

Theme For English B
by Langston Hughes

The instructor said,

Go home and write
a page tonight.
And let that page come out of you--
Then, it will be true.

I wonder if it's that simple?
I am twenty-two, colored, born in Winston-Salem.
I went to school there, then Durham, then here
to this college on the hill above Harlem.
I am the only colored student in my class.
The steps from the hill lead down into Harlem,
through a park, then I cross St. Nicholas,
Eighth Avenue, Seventh, and I come to the Y,
the Harlem Branch Y, where I take the elevator
up to my room, sit down, and write this page:

It's not easy to know what is true for you or me
at twenty-two, my age. But I guess I'm what
I feel and see and hear, Harlem, I hear you:
hear you, hear me--we two--you, me, talk on this page.
(I hear New York, too.) Me--who?
Well, I like to eat, sleep, drink, and be in love.
I like to work, read, learn, and understand life.
I like a pipe for a Christmas present,
or records--Bessie, bop, or Bach.
I guess being colored doesn't make me not like
the same things other folks like who are other races.
So will my page be colored that I write?

Being me, it will not be white.
But it will be
a part of you, instructor.
You are white--
yet a part of me, as I am a part of you.
That's American.
Sometimes perhaps you don't want to be a part of me.
Nor do I often want to be a part of you.
But we are, that's true!
As I learn from you,
I guess you learn from me--
although you're older--and white--
and somewhat more free.

This is my page for English B.

I love the part where he writes about normal people and of course bach...
