D decided, awhile ago actually, on American. The merit aid was far more generous than we initially realized and because the acceptance came earlier than some it got shuffled to the bottom of the pile. When we looked at everything again, it looked great! She is excited to be heading out of rural New England to DC. Fortunately she is experienced in some city life as we go to Boston often and she has traveled quite a bit. Otherwise it would surely be the country bumpkin goes to the big city. Our town is tiny.

Our D applied to 22 colleges. Unfortunately, this ridiculous number was her parents’ fault. Her choice, however, is entirely her own and one that is amazing to us all. On March 31, her top choices were Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon. That changed on April 1 when Stanford accepted her. Poor Berkeley and CMU. She was offered a financial package that covers about 90% of all costs. Even now, with just two months to go, she still is in shock.

emgamac - Wow! She deserves it. Congratulations!

I wish I had read this sight earlier… My son finally got into his 1st choice, as you can tell UPENN but what a ride through trial and error, He applied to 8 schools and got accepted to all. Most had good merit offers,25k Tulane, Full tuition and 1/2 RB from St.Johns, Tuition Juniata, Penn’s letter came last and with 30K it may not be what the other offers were but he’s wanted to go to Wharton for 5 years and all his work paid off.
