***Class of 2014 NMSF Qualifying scores***

We are still waiting in GA. My son has a 222, so I think he is safe. Hopefully it will be confirmed today.

Just to clarify on the total psat score that is the 99% percentile, it is approximately 216, not 211. 211 is where the “rounded” percentile is closer to 99 than 98, and it’s a little above 98.5. 221 is also shown as the 99%, as are all scores from 211-221 (222 is the 99.5%). Halfway between 211 and 221 is 216, and that is the total score that is approximately the actual 99% nationally.

Sweating here in GA with a 218

Per guidance counselor

^^^^Is what 2014hsgrad?

^^I’m guessing 2014hsgrad meant “216” is the cutoff in IL, but maybe they can clarify.

@ arwarw -

Ask your GC if someone got a 219 and not make it in your HS in GA?

225 made it in UT, but that’s not surprising.

Per counselor

Come on CT. Schools are closed today, but surely there are home schoolers or private schools out there with some news??

I got 224 in NY. I think I’m safe, but no news yet.

Hello,

Any confirmation on the qualifying score for TN? Does anyone know 212 has qualified? Our GC says they haven’t received anything yet!

Thanks!

No word from my daughter’s school yet. But 219 will make it, right??

updating with UT, TN & IL and CO

Please use this template that explains the symbols below for each state

See the stickied FAQ thread in this forum for links to lists of previous scores.

After the press-release date in mid-September, qualifying scores will be available by phone from the NMSC. Here is the number to call–the receptionist will give you one “qualifying score” when asked.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation
1560 Sherman Avenue
Suite 200
Evanston, Illinois 60201-4897
Main Telephone: (847) 866-5100
Main Fax: (847) 866-5113

You can feel free to edit the list yourself. Or simply post your information and rely on others to edit it in.

If you have been notified that you are NMSF, post your score (and your state) if it is lower than the score already posted for your state. It will then become the lowest known qualifying score and be indicated as “<=”.

If you have reliable knowledge of what the qualifying score for your state is (try asking whoever notifies you!), post it here, too. It will become the definitive cut-off score for your state indicated by “=”.

Finally, if you know that you did not qualify and had a reasonably high score, it can also be useful to post your score as an example of the highest non-qualifying score. This can be indicated by “>=”

Please note: Be conscientious as you post scores on this thread–it would be crushing to be led to believe you have made the cutoff by a post but actually haven’t. But everyone should be tolerant of mistakes, too. This is an unofficial source of information derived from a collaborative process and is not, therefore, guaranteed.

I am sure it will! I saw an earlier post that said the cut off was between 209 and 216. Let us know if you hear anything.

@AjjiMom per post #917, 212 is TN cutoff… I’d love to get a second on that (as I’m sure you would)

Got a text from school that my kid is NMSF in CO with a 215, so CO <=215. Odds seem good that the CO cutoff is 215. That was close.

I feel the need to post the daily disclaimer again:

Please note: Be conscientious as you post scores on this thread–it would be crushing to be led to believe you have made the cutoff by a post but actually haven’t. But everyone should be tolerant of mistakes, too. This is an unofficial source of information derived from a collaborative process and is not, therefore, guaranteed.

Remember, this is anecdotal evidence :)

@ friend in KY who private messaged. Not sure if my message went through regarding 211 - I got a kickback saying I don’t have enough posts to send private messages.
But yes, KY 211 was called into office yesterday for “official notification.” Hope this alleviates your stress
Congrats to your son!!

^ That being said, we have gone with almost all of the clear info posted here, thanks for being our scouts!

Just waiting on GA (post inferred a 220 cutoff which seemed harsh) & I want more info before putting it up on the board.

I see by the number of 1st time posters, that many lurkers have signed up - welcome :)

Thanks again to all of you!
