***Class of 2014 NMSF Qualifying scores***

Has anyone seen the Texas list? Thanks.

Where in Texas. Can’t find a single list. I posted a few large lists in post 1277.

Thanks MDMOM14. I certainly don’t think all the silly secrecy by NM does them any good–or the kids. The press release on their website announcing that there was a separate press release with the names to the press was hilarious.

Looking for the entire state of Texas list. Has anyone seen it yet? Thanks.

thank you so much texaspg! I’m still waiting for the list of state of Michigan. has anyone seen it? many thanks

jlin - the only list I can find for Michigan seems to be behind a paywall of somekind in gobookee.net. I am not so keen on paying for it but thought I would pass it on. Since I have not seen the list, I can’t say whether it is an authentic offer of sale.

I have seen a smattering of press releases for West Bloomfield, Ann Arbor, and Kalamazoo but no statewide list except for the one texaspg found. I am specifically looking for the Grand Rapids area. We have confirmation from my son’s school but it would be nice to have a press release to share with the grandparents!

The earliest I see last year’s list showing up was 18th. So it may be coming soon, may be next week.

Anyone see a Louisville, KY list? Even our school has been somewhat silent. GC told my DD she made it but that was it. Very odd for our school.

^^Check the Jefferson County Public School website. Fayette Co. published the list for Lexington before school even informed SF.

California. The entire state: You can download the list.

Son has still heard nothing from his school in NH. He called NMSC on Thursday to verify that he was on the list (which he is!!) so now to follow up again with the school (who on Tuesday told him they hadn’t heard anything). The school never informed students about being high scorers in the spring either. Thanks to CC, I know how to guide my kids through this seemingly convoluted process. I feel badly for the students who have no idea that they might even be NMSFs.

Still looking for the list for Connecticut - has anyone seen it?

does anyone have a list of the semi-finalists from Colorado?

Yeah, my guidance counselor hasn’t said anything to me or any fellow seniors (but I’m pretty sure my 233 qualifies me…)

Anybody got a MA list?

I am a bit unclear about how the scholarships work. Once you are a finalist, can you only be considered for a corporate or a college sponsored scholarship or can you receive both? If only one, is it just a crapshoot on which one does (or does not) pick you? Thanks in advance!

Carolinamom…There are three types of NM scholarships. The $2500 NM Scholarship, corporate sponsored scholarships and college sponsored scholarships. A NMF can be awarded only one of those scholarships. It is my understanding (and someone will definitely correct me if I’m wrong  ) that the $2500 NM Scholarships go to the strongest candidates in each state. Corporate scholarships tend to be awarded to children/dependents of employees of the sponsoring corporation. College sponsored scholarships are left to the discretion of the individual schools.

In the case of OU, my son did not receive either of the non-college sponsored awards, so he received a college sponsored award in the amount of $2,500. Had he received, for example, $1,000 from a corporate sponsored award, OU would have sponsored an additional $1,500. I don’t know how other colleges/universities handle that. Some schools (check the list), add other scholarships, stipends, benefits on top of the college-sponsored award, so the total package is much more than the $2,500.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Soonermom! Last June, my son applied for a corporate scholarship through an organization in which he’s involved. I was concerned that this would exclude him for other NM opportunities but it sounds like it could be supplimemted by another. Thank you for the information!

Just an update…This morning I got an email from a friend congratulating my student for NM semifinalist. She read it in the local Sunday paper! Sure enough there it was. Still no word from the school. Pretty funny since our paper is usually weeks behind in the news. Of course they had it buried, while there was a full page story on a volleyball team. :)
