elizabeth - Congrautlations to your son! I have to tell you that I am not surprised at all to hear your good news! There are hundreds (thousands?) of colleges out there for “average” kids like your son!

Give him a long hug and a big kiss. Congratulations.

Elizabeth, congratulations! I’m sure many of the parents of '10-ers are very grateful to you for your words of reassurance!!!

wow, I am so touched by all of the positive responses I’ve gotten to this post. I think it means 2 things…parents on CC are nicer than students, and I am definitely not alone in the world, worrying about my average kid! Also I’m so happy to hear all of the great remarks about NAU, we are going to a local info session this Sunday and my son is excited to hear about it.
Have a great day, everyone!

Tell that to the kids around here that think we’re “mean.” LOL

congrats elizabeth! My H graduated from NAU and it was absolutely the best school for him. He started at a much larger school which was not right for him. He has had a very successful career.

Hooray! Congratulations!

elizabethh – big congratulations to your son! What a wonderful relief for both of you – it feels great to have one “in your pocket”.

Have you visited NAU? I don’t know very much about it, but my S has received a lot of mail and emails from them. We have never been to Flagstaff, is it a nice area?

You are within driving distance from the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, the Painted Desert, San Francisco Peaks skiing, and Meteor Crater. What else would you want? :)

Great news!

Don’t forget the short distance to Sedona and skiing at the Snowbowl J’adoube!

Wonderful, wonderful news! And good job to your son for getting his app in fast to see great results!

How does he feel about the news?

Whooo Hoooo. NAU is a wonderful school and like missypie I harbor a hope that DS will consider it. I hope your son likes /or will grow to like all of the wonderful outdoor rec options he will find there.

Thanks so much for sharing your good news! Best of luck with the remaining decisions!

Bengalmom - We haven’t been to Flagstaff yet. my son has a couple of friends there who are really enjoying it. I know it’s a beautiful area, and it snows in the wintertime. The school itself is on the small side - 16,000 or so - at least small for what my son is looking for. i believe its a very outdoorsy place - environmental studies is a big draw there.

Go Lumberjacks! your son will love it in Flagstaff.
