Dear CiTreofa:

Among the many tasks faced by the Colgate admission staff, by far the most difficult responsibility we have is to notify a student that we are unable to offer admission. We appreciate the interest you have shown in Colgate and the dedication reflected in your academic and personal record, but after careful review of our applicant pool, I am sorry to inform you of our conclusion that we cannot offer you a position in the Colgate Class of 2014.

The admission process this year was highly competitive. We have reviewed applications from more than 7,800 talented students for 760 places in the class. In recent years we have enjoyed an increasing level of interest from very talented students. One consequence of this stronger applicant pool is that we must disappoint many students who certainly could meet the challenge of a Colgate education and contribute to life on campus. Our decision to deny admission is very much a reflection of this competitive situation in which we do not have room to admit many fine candidates.

I trust that you have identified some alternate college choices that will provide the academic challenge you seek. If your interest in Colgate continues, however, you are welcome to apply for admission as a transfer student once you have completed one year of college work in the liberal arts at another institution.

CiTreofa, I am sorry that the news today is not pleasant. I received notifications like this myself so I know how you feel. We remain grateful to you for choosing to apply to Colgate and respect the effort you devoted to your application and preparation for college. We also hope the remainder of your senior year will be filled with a sense of optimism and excitement as you make plans to complete high school and begin your college years. I do want you to know that the admission committee at Colgate wishes you the very best success throughout the future.

Sincerely,
Gary L. Ross
Vice President and Dean of Admission

Transfter…huh, wana me got denied once again? Thank you, but no…

Dear Ms. CiTreofa

The Committee on Admissions has completed its review of applicants to the Class of 2014 at Georgetown University. Following a very careful consideration of your application, I am sorry to inform you that it will not be possible to offer you a place in the first-year class.

Admissions Committees considered nearly 18,100 candidates for an entering class of 1,580 first-year students. As a result of this high level of competition, fewer than 3,400 of the many well-qualified candidates could be offered admission, representing approximately 19% of the applicant pool. Please be assured that the faculty, staff and student members of the Admissions Committee carefully reviewed the credentials and recommendations submitted with your application and were disappointed that you could not be included among those admitted.

The interest you have shown in Georgetown is deeply appreciated. We do wish you every success with your further education.

Sincerely,

Charles A. Deacon
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions

Actuallly, I have the very feeling that I shall be denied by GT at the very beginning. But I still applied, silly me!

Villanova admitted me but no fianancial aid. So wat u expect me to pay from? Bank robbery? I might talk to Cliv Owen about this idea, LOL

Here is the letter:

As you may be aware, Villanova University is a need-blind institution, which means admission decisions are made regardless of a student’s ability to pay for their expenses while at Villanova University. As with Admission, the Office of Financial Assistance received a record number of qualified applicants who were also interested in being considered for need-based financial aid. Unfortunately, because of our limited funding, we are not able to award need-based aid to you. Please be assured that just as with the admission process, your financial aid application was carefully reviewed for consideration.

…

I wish you success in your future personal and academic endeavors and congratulate you once again on your academic abilities.

Sincerely,

Bonnie Lee Behm

Director of Financial Assistance

r u going to the states?

84 yep definitely

but it’s quite nail-biting to decide where to end up with

Dear GPA#:
The Admission Committee has completed the difficult task of selecting the group of students to be admitted as transfers for the fall term. I am sorry that we are not able to offer you a place in the class. I know that you invested much time and energy in your application, and I regret that this outcome is not different.
The decision was not an easy one to make as so many applicants present strong records of achievement. Because every transfer student has distinctive courses, grades and experiences, I would be more than happy to discuss your file with you directly. If you have questions, you may contact my office at (757) 221-3859.
I hope this decision will not deter you from any of your personal aspirations. Indeed, all members of the Admission Committee wish you success not only with your other transfer applications, but also in all future endeavors.
Thank you for your interest in William & Mary and best of luck to you.
Sincerely,
Kimberly C. Van Deusen
Associate Dean of Admission
