Class of 2014

I still haven’t been contacted for an interview for Harvard though I only applied Dec 31(procrastination to the extreme!)…
^^Where are you from Breuer2014? It’s possible you’re from a place with very few if not no harvard alumni…

Do Harvard interviewers ask “Why do you want to come to Harvard in particular?” type of questions?

^
mine didnt. so he when asked me, “do you have any more questions” i took the initiative to tell him why I LOVE HARVARD…
and yes, i must have given him 20+ reasons ranging from engaging myself intellectual with the nation’s brightest to their fencing team that i hope to be a part of XO

is it bad that I answer something like,

“I want to get a top-notch education and want to surround myself with some of the brightest students in the world” ???

I feel like that is an extremely generic answer, but truth be told, there isn’t any one individual, unique, thing about Harvard that makes me want to go there or die.

Fingers crossed!!
Harvard = <3

@powerbomb:
i suppose you could have given a better answer but what done has been done :D
and interviews dont make that much difference in my opinion.

I loved my interview! My interviewer was f**king awesome! She even wrote tons of “emoticons” in her emails towards me! And the hour was basically back-and-forth easy conversation in the library! I wish all interviews were like this. :)

My interviewer was really cool too! She went to my high school, so she totally got all the things I said about it. I mean, all of my not on campus interviewers have been connected to my highschool, my MIT interviewers grandkids go there, my Georgetown interviewer is a school parent and volunteers at my school, my Chicago interviewer’s brother went there and her son really wants to go (and she and her brother and son were Montessori educated for elementary like me too) but I feel like this time it gave us the most connection. But she was just really cool in general. We both liked Cummings and artifacts and discussing the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. It went well I think.

my interviewer was pretty cool. he graduated in 2009 so he was young and we could relate, which was great because I’ve heard horror stories of interviewers class of '60. we talked about cello which we both play, and our love of Carl Sagan and bananagrams. I thought it went well, but I’m good at that sort of thing.

If any of you had bad interviews or are nervous about upcoming interviews, let me tell you that interviews barely count for anything. Their main purpose is to weed out very strange people (i.e. strange in a non-artistic way) and pass along information. My interview was god awful (awkward, no huge gaffes, but pretty darn bad) and I got in.

Hey All!I don’t even have a chance for interview …I don’t think it’ll be such a big deal.
So I submitted my H app 1 Dec…knowing I am more likely to get rejected than to get accepted~But I hope things go well in spring!omg.at least I tried.

And fingers crossed for you guys and myself!

yeah, i have my Harvard interview on wednesday (1/20) and i hope it goes well.
I was reading all of the other posts and there are some students who applied who are like textbook students with perfect test scores, hundreds of community service hours and all that junk but i dont have perfect SAT scores and its starting to seem like im not going to get in… :frowning:
i really want to go to Harvard… :)

@CarlosL1992 I have the same thoughts of doubt because I am not at all like the ‘textbook students’ (I don’t have perfect SATs either). when I feel insecure I ask my magic 8 ball whether I’ll be accepted. record is like 8 yes, 1 no. soo… I suggest you buy a magic 8 ball. even if it’s totally unsubstantiated it feels nice to hear a yes from somebody.

Yes, you will get into Harvard.

…shake, shake, shake…

Maybe, you will get into Harvard :)

@elchagas
I don’t have a magic 8 ball, so I do simulations on my calculator (yeah, I’m a nerd!)
I choose a # for myself and have the calculator pick 7 out of 100 #'s, if mine is in the 7 I’m in. haha

@k2kanakan ahahahahha wow that beats the magic 8 ball.

woot midyear is over! struggling to get all the reports in because my counselor is idiotic and refuses to use the internet mid-year report thing. my semester ended this week and I think the due dates are at the end of next week! ack!

^ my counselor is the SAME! the due date is feb 1 i think.

I think the due date is whenever your second MP grades are done.

@elchagas Lol your quite funny i must say… magic 8 balls are very fun :slight_smile: haha

Yay! good chance to be in the class of 2014. Got a likely letter last Friday.
